65 degrees in Eufaula at 0530, which is also my low of the day. It has also been 13 days without rain here, and things are starting to turn brown. My high yesterday was 96 and it looks like I'll top out at about 98 and 99 or 100 Wednesday. I wasn't buying the pattern shift signal since there's nothing I can see that will be either weakening or moving this ridge east, and there's not going to be a pattern shift without one or both of those happening. Our best chance of rain is a low developing in the Gulf, hopefully by the start of next week. The strong ridge will steer the low over or near us as it moves N or NE out of the Gulf. Of course, this may also be wishful thinking on my part as I see no other chances of anything but a stray bit of drizzle over the next fourteen days. Cotton, peanut, and corn farmers are already starting to suffer as the budding crops are just starting to grow, and the combination of the extreme heat and lack of rain will really start to hurt them over the next five days.
