Brilliant car and an even better video. Half way through watching I was like "Man I wish he did follow-up videos on these interesting cars so we can find out if he was able to sort all the issues" and then.. voila! You did just that within the same vid.

Appreciate your great content, keep it up! Greetings from Serbia 🙌

The BMW 'bong' warning noise still sends shivers through me. I owned a 2013 730d m sport for 2 yrs. I had a leaky air suspension strut which i replaced, then the compressor broke, so that was replaced. Then i had a handbrake issue caused by the chassis wearing through the brake loom.
Apart from that, it was a joy to drive and i do miss it, especially the comfortable seats!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
P.s. i never used the front bumper cameras, altho the 360 ones were very useful and very sharp in detail!

Just to note - if you want to actually make money on these older cheap luxury barges, you need to be a wrenching man. I just bough an oler E65 with some minor issues - if i had to pay a mechanic to do all the jobs, i'd probably pay as much as you did, but since i have a proper diagnostic tool and can swap parts myself, it'll cost me a fraction.

Sounds like the key to having a fancy car is to have a mechanic that doesn't overcharge you. I had a car in the UK like 6-7 years ago. One day, it's driver side door lock started freely spinning in both directions and not locking/unlocking. After a quick google search, I learned that most likely what has broken is the paddle-looking thing that connects the lock's drum to the lock/unlock mechanism. The local dealer wanted 150£ just for diagnostic to confirm what the issue is... Went to a local independent mechanic, he wanted 120£ to fix it... the part was 3£ on ebay, ended up replacing it myself in 30 mins with the help of a youtube vid. Luckily I needed a car only for 12 months and there were no other issues with it in that time, I do not want to know how much I would have been charged if there was a more serious issue.

In the Netherlands we say "er is niets zo duur als een goedkope BMW " meaning : There is nothing more expensive than a cheap BMW.

I’ve had my 2014 f01 for 2 years and absolutely love it, yes serving and parts are expensive but it is a luxury motor. I recently had to replace both rear air suspension struts, genuine BMW £1300.00 each and a replacement battery which has to be coded and registered but all worth it for a fantastic machine. You get a lot of car for money considering the cost when new.

A real relief to see how relatively solid it looks -- shows how well built the 7 is. You did a great job refurbing. You're dead right about keeping an older car on the road rather than buying a new EV - lithium mining is a filthy, dangerous, and environmentally disastrous thing, to name but one aspect of EVs that ain't so good...

You should get an award for what you do with "older"cars. 😅👍. You are in business to make money, but: your love for car's Shines through in your vlogs. Don't stop what you are doing. ( Mike Brewer eat your heart out 😅)

However you look at it, this is a car that cost a massive amount of money when new, but you have it working well for a total of £6K including purchase cost. That's pretty cool.

That BMW error warning chime sends shivers down my spine!! My old 5 series E63 Touring loved making that sound just to remind me that you needed to spend some more money on her!!!🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

Great review Matt! Find these really interesting, gives a good picture of the sort of costs involved in buying an older Luxo barge!

I find the way you present your program and your honesty really first rate, from somebody who spent 7 years at Bristol Street Motors in Wolverhampton

Absolutely love the F01 7 series traded mine in after 5 years of trouble free luxury motoring today for a Porsche panamera turbo (with porsche warranty) just like trading in my slippers for a set of sprinters spikes, love it.

That's a hell of a barge (and at 5.1m long, I can see why it has cameras everywhere), and somebody's going to enjoy that for what is hopefully a good while, and for a very good price. I would've thought that the air con service would've picked up on the leak, but I suppose the UV dye should make it easy enough to figure out where it's leaking from.

Amazes me how all these cars you buy seem to have tyres from a brand I've never heard off. This is surely somewhere not to skimp. I did once. I got midrange Firestone tyres for an Alfa mito. Completely ruined the handling. Massive understeer in the wet in low speed corners. Literally just wanted to go straight on. Another situation was when vandals at my previous house decided to slash everyone's tyres. My pirellis were damaged but I was able to pump them up and drive to a garage to get new ones. This was simply not possible with my flat mates budget tyres which had zero pressure and wouldn't pump up. This makes me think the chance of a blow out instead of a slow puncture would be higher with these cheap tyres.

Keeping an older car on the road is always more friendly to the environment than buying a new efficient car

Definitely an ex BMW UK car, hence the Leeds reg plate, originated at the Thorne Distribution Centre then sold via Menzies as an AUC @ 5k miles.
