If the bezel is accidentally bumped and moved while on a dive, the unidirectional will not allow the diver to have more time added to their dive. So if the bezel does accidentally move it would only give the diver less time keeping the diver safe.

For those that are freaking out, the 6 figure watches are collector pieces. They are not current production.

Is the curve pointing line at 3:37 a wink at Amazon, who is now the proud owner of the James Bond franchise?

I have a Submariner, which I love. I’m also a SCUBA Instructor and a big fan of Clive Cussler books so I also have a DOXA SUB 300T.

One direction so the marker doesn't move to inadvertently "increase time" while underwater.

I’ve had my Casio pathfinder PAG-80 Compass, barometer, altimeter, multi time zones temperature, since 2012. It’s saved my ass multiple times when my phone battery died. I was able to Orienteer myself 10 miles out of the forest.

Hi Antonio, nice video! I have performed quite a bit research in regards to utility wristwatches. If I am incorrect, then I stand to be corrected. In the early to mid 1950s, Rolex was the first watch manufacturer to market a scuba diver wristwatch, the Rolex Submariner. In the mean time, Rolex also marketed the "Turn-O-Graph", (NOT to be confused with a TACHYMETER) it was a rotating bezel on the OUTSIDE of the wristwatch. The Turn-O-Graph was designed to keep scuba divers informed in regards to how much oxygen supply they had left, before they had to surface. All Rolex Turn-O-Graph(s) are unidirectional, able rotate only in ONE direction counterclockwise, (to the left only) making it so that the diver can not recognize any additional oxygen supply time by mistake. All real divers watch bezels are unidirectional to the left (counterclockwise only). If the watch bezel is bidirectional (both directions) it can be, a Aviators watch (showing different time zones) or a military watch, a Sport watch (not Sports watch), or a casual/dress watch, but not suited for scuba diving for a safety issue. A Tachymeter is a non rotating dial on the very outward face of a wristwatch first marked in the late 1950s by Omega, (The Omega Speedmaster). The Tachymeter It's the same principle as the Turn-O-Graph, but it works kind of in a opposite way. There are watches with a inside Tachymeter and a outside Turn-O-Graph, and they are marketed as wristwatch slide rules. If you notice that I capitalized Rolex, Submariner, Turn-O-Graph, Omega, Speedmaster and Tachymeter. Please reply. Dave...

Having the unidirectional bezel insures the diver does. not stay down to long.. if the bezel was bidirectional, it could be bumped the wrong way and the diver may stay to long underwater.

What about the part in one of the books where bond slides his Rolex down across his knuckles and smashes a guy in the face with it?

I might get a Tudor Black Bay 54 next year and a NATO strap. Can't say I have any plans of getting a Rolex at their current values. I'm happy with the likes of Omega, Longines, Long Island Watch Co, etc. My main gripe with the Submariner is that 40mm is too big for me. The Yachtmaster 37mm is ok, but that's a lot of coin for a dive-ish watch.

This video is out of my budget. If I had that watch, I could retire already.

If the bezel rotated both ways, it could accidentally go the wrong direction. You would run out of air and die.

Number 1 - The Rolex Sub is a direct rip off of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. That's a true story, Kaye.
Number 2 - The Sub Connery wears in Doctor No was his own watch.
Number 3 - The black, olive, red watch strap (03:45) which he wore in Goldfinger, he got from the director of the movie, Guy Hamilton..Today, that's known as the Bond watch strap. I'm wearing one right now on my diver (NOT a Rolex).
