Extensive researches conducted on Indian TV serials have all highlighted these main problems in TV indutsry. Almost in every serials, women are shown as -
1- Dumb and dependent on her husband.
2- An ideal wife always keeps her family abover herself
3- Extra Marital affairs
4- Mother-in law is always the villain.

However, you might be surprised to know that these dramatic serials, where women are either portrayed as helpless, innocent victims or, on the extreme end, as evil witches, actually started with the intention of empowering women in our society. In fact, it wasn't just the serials— the entire entertainment media industry was once seen as a means for nation-building, promoting nationalism within the country.

But then, there was a turning point in the history of daily soaps. After that moment, there was no looking back. From then on, the industry got entangled in the dynamics of "saas-bahu" conflicts and endless conspiracies, losing its original focus on women’s empowerment.

there was a serial on sony sab " Madam Sir " which was based on female police officers and female empowerment, and it was also based on day-to-day issues but the show shut down because of low trp . this shows that indian audience want that cheap shows only

Majority of the Indian serial concept is that, "marriage is the only important thing a women's life"
Especially in today's serials, it's all about women being multitasker, showing that she is capable to work both in and out.

The portrayal of the "good girl"...godddd, she is good in academics, she wears fully covered traditional clothes (i have no issues wuth traditional or covering clothes...but who tf wears anarkali to college?) she is good in rhe kitchen and ofcourse she is tyaag ki devi and forever forgiving all people bhale wo usko maarne ki hi koshish kyu na karein

There was a indian serial ' barrister babu' that i love till Breaking the social evils of early problems in indian society .... The serial that seriously taught us about importance of women's education, problem of dowry, menstrual education, problems of child marriage and patriotism..so many other things..
Of course there are some plots that become a little boring in between but still it was so good that i simply ignored it ❤ ...

I don't have enough words to praise you. Very extensive research done. This has to be highlighted. Our tv industry needs huge modifications. Our youth is distracting seeing tv serials and some media influencers.
