Smoking induces a lax lower esophageal sphincter and thus induces significant amount of reflex. Many patients have reflex esophagitis or gastro esophageal reflex disease. These patients many at times are smokers. So it is advised to quit smoking and the symptoms become significantly better .So finally the pewits feel that they do not require any medications what is suggested. Quitting smoking, the patients may develop discomforts like headache, stuffy nose and coloured tongue, it is because of the smoke induced color which was there from significant time, related to the pigmentation of the teeth, also the tongue and also the gingiva. IBS and hiatus hernia. Most of the times these two conditions will co-exist. These two will be two separate entities. IBS needs to be treated separately and hiatus hernia needs to be treated separately. They may co-exist but are not inter related.
