I used to be so excited when a shopping trip to Middlesbrough was on the cards. It's lost all its charm now and is so depressing to walk around. The locals deserve better.

30 to 40 years ago it was a place i loved to go shopping, over the years it has declined, i made my final visit there around six months ago and sadly it was my last.
I love the town and its people but its not what it used to be.

I USED T0 HAVE HOLIDAYS there[From London or Eastbourne] 20 times [REALLY]staying in Pallister Avenue[REALLY] as mums sister lived there so initially for family some friends and also very nice girls met there between 1972-1989[Britney, Sharon, Linda, Elaine, Tracy, Carol, Christine and various others].Also went to various pubs and miss Madison disco[It was good] and Mandys [Now Soho -thats shut apparently] and Billy PAULS...Also went there for interesting buses [Mbro Stockton TRTB then TMT and Clevelnd Transit, also United and Northern] even in 60s 70s 80s had to be wary of yobs[Some of my family were yobs too] i still have an affection for the place[and can do the voice as i spent up to a month at a time there[total 18 months]..

I was born and bred in the boro it was so nice to live there our main linthorpe road use have lovely shops now it's full.of migrant shops with piles of fruit and veg on the payments and streets running of linthorpe road almost a no go area all taken over by immigrants it's so sad our town no bdy what's to visit

I left the area over 20 years ago, travelled the world now living in Yorkshire. Hope to come back one day have a look round it doesn’t look very promising

This is so sad to watch, the town used to be very busy, thousands of people shopping, now everything has shut, mostly due to greedy council asking for sky high rents. All the big name shops have gone, the council has failed and should be held responsible, they have turned a once busy and vibrant town in to a shithole.
