Im in this vibe, starting at fallout 3, falling back in love with the games that made me fall in love with gaming in general...

I’m doing a replay of NeveWinter Nights due to the out-of-nowhere (for me at least) DLC drop. Imagine one of your favorite games of all time, decades old, getting a big, well done DLC. Dream come true.

I’m right with you dude. I had never replayed a single player game until last year. The lack of games that interested me made me go back to my favourites, and what I realised is that I actually seem to like them even more on second playthrough. Playing these games again also confirms to me how much I hate so many modern games, usually in terms of length and complexity.

I like to think backlog doesn't exist for me. I am an achievement/trophy hunter, so there are already a lot of restrictions, how I play, I don't want to stress myself further. Last year I made something that refresh the games I play, I try to play games out of my comfort zone. I did it with Ghostrunner now, and I can tell its a banger.
I always play games I think I might like, but I never play something just because others think its cool.
Learn what you like, for instance I never play games on the easiest difficulty, because they ruin the experience, but hardest difficulty do as well!
I know you play a lot of genre because of the channel, but try to make out the most of it.

I often feel I shouldn't replay games when I have a 1000 plus backlog on steam. When I feel burnt out with gaming or just a little depressed with life in general replaying something you love can get you through it. I've wanted to replay Arkham origins for a while, might do that next especially since the rocksteady live service debacle 😂

There's nothing really wrong about revisiting playing older games, especially how dry and disappointing this generation for consoles.

Personally however I've always had a time to reflect naturally on how older games and generations just felt like a experience all over again.

The older IP's like Sunset Overdrive, Alpha Protocol, Prototype, Enslaved Odyssey To The West, XCOM Enemy Unknown, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Rage, Brutal Legend and Remember Me (2013 Capcom game) it just made myself appreciate the more months and days go by playing these games, the more appreciation and accessibility I realized that, "hey I spent this many hours playing this back in the hayday so let's revisit it in 2025 to see if my standards are the same now as opposed to that time".

I also had a discussion with someone other day playing Helldivers 2 and we were just discussing about how often we go through the games completed, and endless hours of 100% everything and we practically agreed to say that revisiting older games just felt more immersive and somehow, somewhere in the catacombs of gaming I always have that tendency, well as mindset to essentially go "yeaah this fired all cylinders".

Bottom line, revisiting nostalgia regardless on the game you're experiencing once more just has that beautiful, yet captivating feeling that older games are not just stories and art, gamers like ourselves have such uniqueness and artistic direction to give analysis on how these games matter to us.

And speaking of this video, I'm currently working on game rankings on the channel and would love to see your thoughts when they're in preparation mode.

I replay about 2-3 games a year. I just pick the ones that i haven't played in a long time but want to agains. The only one I want to replay this year is batman arkam asylum. There are times I want to replay more games but I don't because my backlog is so massive. I think what im going to do this year is look through my backlog and sell quite a few games im not as interested in anymore because i rarely buy new games now either because of it.

I almost never replay games. I just have too many. Although if I can find a way to play them on different consoles or they get a remake or a remaster then it's like a cheat code to replaying those games 😂
You absolutely have to play what you love though. You have the time to replay games. I say go for it!
Oh and as far as picking games to play for the year. I actually am doing that loosely because I have choice paralysis and then spend 3 or 4 days not playing a game because I can't decide what I want to play. This way if I have a few on a list so I don't forget I know I can pick from those.

Frankly this generation has been perfect for tackling your backlog. All the games I've bought cheap on Steam over the years are finally getting played.

13:01 yeah, dude. I started the year with a spreadsheet for backlog and new release games I was going to focus on. I got through 4 of them. It’s now only February and I am juggling 4 games none of which were on the list. Mood is a factor you cannot predict.

So my formula usually is check out the new games that interest me in the month of release if I’m able to. Then behind that is backlog titles which are always on the books chipping away at, finally the only time I replay a game is to land a 100% out of it. Unless it’s a remaster etc

I’m not sure there’s any way anyone could argue a correct way as it’s something you usually feel out for yourself.

Cheers for keeping me company while I grind the one million battle encounters in Tales of Graces 😂

I almost never replay games. It happens to me that I complete a game several times in a row, but I probably won't come back to it. I always have to have something new.

OMG....I feel dizzy just listening to all the titles you have re-played....I am retired, yet I don't think I would have enough time in the day (or energy) re-playing all these titles as well as new titles....you must live in an alternate reality where one day is 48 hours....hahaha...

I replay games when there’s been a sequel added for example I replayed TLOU P1 when P2 released. I’ll sometimes do a franchise playthrough when a new game has been added also but with the amount of games releasing it’s impossible to clear the backlog. Is there a discord for this community to join?
