Golden Horn - QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes (Group 1) - 2015

Golden Horn added another Group 1 prize to his collection as he took the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes, after a stewards' enquiry.

Golden Horn definitely stopped Free Eagle in his tracks, but as FE didn't finish 'close enough' to GH overall, that's why he wasn't thrown out. I think GH is arguably over the top for the year now.

*I'm not sure how the rules of racing read in Ireland about what does or doesn't constitute interference in a race at the level where the stewards are forced to alter the placings of the race? I'd love to read them sometime though, because what I do know is that on the same track at this very meeting back in 2012, the filly Duntle was taken down as the winner of the G1 Matron Stakes for much less than what we saw out of Golden Horn in this race.*

I'm a great fan of GH;i've backed him several times this season, but, i've seen thousands of races to know he wouldn't have won. Gh is an amazingly intelligent animal, and will do what he has to do to win-believe it or not!!

That was such an odd swerve. Considering what happened earlier at Doncaster, it is surprising the decision was left to stand.

Stewards inquiry aside, golden horn got the job done on a far from ideal ground after a long season, his early season form would obliterate treve, gleneagles etc. he looks a tired horse right now

Golden Horn by a length eased down hard for the stewards to overturn even if they did golden horn would have been placed behind freeeagle which would have made Found the winner so it would be difficult for the stewards to change it using the book

I backed Golden Horn but have to admit if he didnt swerve Free Eagle would have ran him very close

Golden Horn has hindered Free Eagle, that was a illegal movement, it was amounted.

Well it's hard to say just how badly the result was affected as Free Eagle drifted in him self. It was certainly a bad bump, true. I don't think it cost him the race, though it obviously didn't do him much good.

Free Eagle did drift left which made it look worse than it was which is probably why result stood.

Found went onto win the arc after this race i think if not the following year she did

Interesting race, Cirrus des Aigles was the only horse to ever get close to Frankel in a finish.

Oh the stewards were English were they, how strange for Ireland!

i was at the race it was an absolute disgrace the best horse finished third, free eagle lost all momentum when golden horn bumped him very bad call by the stewards

I see how golden horn gets to keep the race but simple verse got disqualified, golden horns was a lot worse he took free eagle right of course! Everybody thinks golden horn is the best he's not!! Treve is going to show him who's boss!!

GH still 3l clear of 3E at line.3E stopped at a crucial time.I just think GH would have fought back.3E very unlucky.
