Shiva Raichandani | Diversifying Gender Representation in Bollywood & Beyond | Talks at Google

#IamRemarkable Week presents: Non-binary artist Shiva discusses positive gender-diverse representation in Bollywood dance and storytelling.

Shiva Raichandani is a multidisciplinary non-binary artist who is passionate about LGBTQ+ politics, positive gender-diverse representation in mainstream media, and mental health within the South Asian LGBTQ+ community. As the principal dancer and lead instructor of London School of Bollywood, Shiva mentors a team of diverse professional performance artists. Their work centers around challenging heteronormative narratives in the media (especially in Bollywood) by raising awareness around the fluidity of gender through music and dance.

As an ideal example of a global citizen with rich sensitivity to a myriad of cultures, Shiva freelances as an inclusion consultant, content creator, filmmaker, choreographer, writer, and community organiser. Shiva is currently producing a short narrative film called 'Queer Parivaar' which is based on an interfaith queer south Asian romance with an all-queer, all-Asian cast and crew.
