This is the best video on YouTube! A great application for TensorFlow and a very hands-on approach. I just subscribed and maybe you post updates about this project.

Very interesting, I can definitely see a commercial application for this object detection

Awesome! The network was trained with pictures of objects taken from any angle.
You could improve yours by training it with pictures taken from cameras pointing in the same angle than the final camera that's going to monitor your place.

Awsome! Def have to start playing with tensor flow. I use motion but have the same wind/leafs/clouds/spiders "problem". So many times i have to scroll through a 6min video of one day with just shadows or a sudden gust of wind, lol. Bad weather or lightning is also interesting, where it could look like an atomic explosion or some ufo ;)
Usually other tensorflow examples contain lots of math which make my head explode. This looks do-able and i don't mind the occasional elephant sighting ;) Thanks for sharing!

Awesome post! Completely unrelated, but-have you looked into the new "Nokia Sleep" w/ IFTTT compatibility? I think I might purchase one and see if I can figure out a way to have my morning alarm shift daily to optimize REM sleep wake-ups. Based on your scripts uou would probably do that idea more justice than I can though!

Hey Bruce, I'm currently trying to replicate this as a project for my second year program with Northrop Grumman on my raspberry pi 4 and a reolink camera and was looking for some advice on how I should progress. I set up an ftp server in the camera's browser client and it's sending files to my pi but i'm unsure on what my next steps should be. Some guidance would be very insightful, thanks!

Thanks for sharing! Dealing with the same issue along with motion lights triggering the cameras that are triggered by prowling cats all night. Have you thought of stand alone motion detectors (radar) that can be tuned to trigger on things larger than moving leaves that would then request a snapshot?

Curious if there has been any more experimentation with movidius. Trying to come up with a lower power server to speedily process motion alerts from 4-5 4mp cameras...and the usb dongle with a mac mini seems like a good start. Just checking in.

this is awesome,

I trained an object detection model on tensorflow, and utilizing opencv for getting frames of input video files. but tensorflow performs kind of slow, may I know what is your techniques to speed tensorflow up?

Thanks.

Hi Bruce, I have been doing through your videos. I am quite impressed :) Love your setup. Do you have any info on how you send the messages to your phone to talk? or is that just a dictation app running? Keep it up!! Very cool stuff

You'd see an improvement with a Nvidia jetson.
