A New York City police officer has reached a $175,000 settlement with the city in a lawsuit that illuminated the use of the “courtesy cards” that officers dole out to friends and relatives to get out of traffic stops and other minor infractions, according to an agreement filed in Manhattan federal court Monday.

Abuse of these courtesy cards - PBA cards - is even more egregious in New Jersey, where you can be ostracized and isolated by your peers for not honoring a PBA card. Institutional corruption.

$175, 000 of your tax money being flushed down the terlit and the cop that carried out the order to transfer the cop to the night shift goes unpunished?

Honestly the cops themselves aren’t the issue…it’s the wannabes that are related/friends/lovers. Etc. They act as if they themselves have a shield and are on city payroll.

There’s no wonder why there are very few good cops left! They run them out, this guy was only trying to do the right thing. look what happened to him. The corruption in that PD is mind-boggling.

Wish I had a courtesy card when I got pulled over for driving with no registration and no insurance. Cop had my damn vehicle towed and left me stranded on the side of the road. Had to call my brother to come get me..
