DJI Phantom—The Spirit of Flight

Great Video, thanks for sharing! I'm using one right now and they are great! It was very easy to set up and fly, this is a game changer in my opinion.

Bozspeed, in the pre production one I have here the GPS is placed right at the top of the internal shell, so it is like it is on the stalk! I'm in the UK so I can't say about the use world wide, I have supplied two GPS NAZA RTF F450's into SA in the past few weks and all seems to be ok when I had spoken to the Regards Martin.

How about making a camera mount for the Sony Action Cam? I have both the Sony AC and GoPro. I prefer the image quality and stability of the Sony.

A "All in one" (Naza, GPS) integrated Quadcopter...well done !

The approximative range of the Tx/Rx ( ~ 300 m) is probaby enough for most applications.

A good idea would be to design a guimbal which could fit for the GoPro...but for its casing too ! It's always "dangerous" to fly without it, in case of hard landing / crash...

Could you put online video made by "GoPro onboard" ?

Not too bad! I still prefer what the XP2 can do. The Phantom is a bit jerky in flight. But they are off to a good start. Maybe the MkII will be ready for prime time.

Well, from my point of view, the interest of this new Quadcopter is that it's fully RTF, quite simple for beginners like me. If you want a quad which could be upgraded...dont't buy this ;-)
Could you say more about the GPS problems in "certain part of the world" ?
I remember seing that...it doesn't work so well in the southern emisphere, that's right ?
I got my GPS antenna for my Naza a few weeks ago...but I fly in the northern emisphere...

What if the Phantom is too far away when the battery dies and you're over water or trees or cars, it just land there?Not so great, you should have an option where you can activate a 3rd situation where if it's too far away over (ex.) water, it calculates the time and battery it needs to get back to create a distance limiter, and as you're flying and the battery decreases that limit becomes bigger and that way as the battery drains it flies closer too you.That would be awesome, not using a stopwatch.

I wasn't referring to the southern hemisphere issue that was never an issue for the naza GPS. I was referring to the magnetic declination issue that a lot of people have problems with.

My reference to the cheap radio is that the Phantom is pretty expensive for a rtf quad. For someone new to the hobby that wants to stay in the hobby, I wouldn't recommend the Phantom unless it was pnp or bnf, just my personal experience selling DJI gear.

Product looks good someone should have a word with their marketing dept, I found out about this product on their dealers sites before it was on there's, and that video, really. Come on guys.

NAZA and GPS=$400 so $280ish (this is a $680 setup) more for everything else is a good deal.
I hope that the NAZA and GPS inside is the same cased unit available by itself and not just a mounted circuit board to the frame.
It will be way too bad if this can not be customized after a person learns more and want to add FPV or change out motors, props, battery size
I say this because it is a very nice frame. I would like to get just the frame

A couple of months ago, I would've been a HUGE advocate for the Phantom and DJI! Unfortunately, about a month ago, a propeller popped off mid-flight, sending my phantom crashing down only about 15 feet as I had JUST taken off!  Since then, 2 motors have been replaced, the board has been replaced, and STILL, the Phantom is showing low voltage, despite the firmware on the NAZA being updated!  I've only had my Phantom 1.1.1 for about 4 months...including the month that it was in the shop...and at the point, I'm probably looking at buying a different brand that is more durable!
