This video is about the two-piece, acorn style lug nuts for the F150. There are several other Ford vehicles that use the same lug nut design. These lug nuts are prone to strip over time, making it nearly impossible to remove it on the side of the road.

the ford lug nuts are called torque retention lugs. last night i spent a hour off the fwy trying to loosen these (a few were rounded off which only pi**ed me off more) til i had to call a tow truck to get it home, THEN another tow truck to take to a tire shop the next day in which they had to muscle them off. CHANGE YOUR FORD LUG NUTS...and don't forget to get a new lug wrench to fit the new lug nuts if needed.

I changed my tires and I could not wrap my head around what was happening with these lug nuts. They were torqued to spec, they took effort to remove but there was like 25 degrees of play. Now it makes sense. Thanks!

Good info, straightforward and well-presented. My tire dealer recommended replacing my oem lug nuts on my 2013 F150 for the reason you explained, and I kind of understood what he was saying, but after watching your video it made it very clear. I'm gonna order some one-piece lug nuts, as you suggested. Thanks a lot!

Glad I found this video. Changed breaks on my F-150 and could not figure out why my lug nuts kept moving after they were tight

They can build a whole vehicle. But didnt know that a two piece lug nut would have issues!

Ford's better idea. Is to have their mechanics be in the glove box to change the spare tire. No telling how many people have been hurt or disabled trying to fix a flat tire. FU ford
