The story ✨

The festival is based on the legend of the battle between the goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura. Mahishasura was granted immortality by Lord Brahma on the condition that only a woman could defeat him. Durga emerged from the combined energies of all the gods and defeated Mahishasura after a nine-day battle.
Navratri, a significant Hindu festival, is celebrated over 9 days to honor the divine feminine energy, particularly the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Here's why:

*Nine Forms of Goddess Durga:*

1. Shailaputri (Day 1) - Embodiment of spiritual strength
2. Brahmacharini (Day 2) - Symbol of devotion and penance
3. Chandraghanta (Day 3) - Embodiment of courage and strength
4. Kushmanda (Day 4) - Symbol of prosperity and well-being
5. Skandamata (Day 5) - Protector of children and families
6. Katyayani (Day 6) - Embodiment of courage and wisdom
7. Kalaratri (Day 7) - Destroyer of darkness and evil
8. Mahakali (Day 8) - Symbol of time and change
9. Navami (Day 9) - Embodiment of wisdom and spiritual growth

*Reasons for 9-Day Celebration:*

1. Nine days represent the nine months of pregnancy, symbolizing the birth of divine energy.
2. Each day honors a different aspect of the feminine divine, showcasing her various qualities.
3. The nine days are divided into three sets of three, representing the three aspects of human life: spiritual growth, material prosperity, and ultimate liberation.
4. Navratri marks the beginning of autumn, signifying the victory of light over darkness.

Navratri celebrates the triumph of good over evil, femininity, and spiritual growth. It's a time for self-reflection, renewal, and connecting with the divine.

I had seen many interviews of these people where they know everything about foreign countries but blank out when asked about our own culture!!

The navadurgas are 9 forms of Durga/Parvati Maa that represent the different stages of a woman's life.

Day 1- Mata Shailputri- (daughter of the mountains)
Day 2- Mata Bramhacharini (the calm amd meditative form of durga maa)
Day 3- Mata Chandraghanta (When parvati maa married Shiva bhagwan)
Day 4- Mata Kushmaanda (The creator with the cosmic egg)
Day 5- Mata Skandmata (Mother of bhagwan kartikeya)
Day 6- Mata Katyayani (Also called mahishasur mardini- The slayer of mahishasur the rakshas)
Day 7- Mata Kaalratri (Also called as Kali Maa, the most fierce form of durga maa who defeated Raktbeej the most bhayankhar rakshas)
Day 8- Mata Mahagauri (The calm form of durga maa after the destruction)
Day 9- Mata Siddhidatri (The one who fulfills wishes)
Navadurga significance ❤

I'm a practicing Hindu but I still try to understand the story behind Muslim and Christian festivals to know their significance and why those days are celebrated.. It just shows one's attitude to be aware of the basic things going around. If an administrator doesn't understand the significance of a festival, how he/she can provide facilities to the public to celebrate it?
Ok leave aside knowing the significance of the festival, she couldn't even tell what day of Navratri the "shahsti" would be... One just has to have some common sense to answer that..
