Would you cook with your truck? Marques and Andrew react to a video showing the Rivian R1T with a modular kitchen built-in that lets you cook and wash dishes while you're out and about. Sure, it's a gimmick but it's a cool one.

It's only gimmicky if you think it's for going out camping. Think about road trips, outdoor sports events and tailgating, and it can get really useful.

Not just an electric range, those are induction burners running off the battery. That's the real flex

Holy cow, that was really cool, okay now I'm sold. He pulled a kitchen out of his truck. Lol

Blocking the rear passenger door could have been done purposefully so people don’t open into a hot stove possibly burning themselves or others as the door opens

Rivian should make a workbench that has power tools etc. I think has people interested

This just turned race days/game days on its head. Gotta be there at 6am and want something better than a Micky D’s cholesterol bomb? No extra packing or planning, just grab some eggs on the way to the match and your good to go, love it!

No campfires allowed when forest fire danger is high.

Imagine this slide out but with a vice or a saw attached for contractors. The configuration possibilities are endless. Plus power is right there.

It'll be interesting to see if they make various modules that slide out with other things in them.

Oh MAN that's amazing, would love this for burning man or camping. Campfire cooking is honestly pretty inconvenient if you're not trying to cook like just oatmeal and cornbread lol

When I first configured my R1T I thought 'no way for $5000' but it has since grown on me. I plan on towing my Airstream so it is redundant, but I also plan to offset some of the costs by renting it out on Turo. Since the kitchen is removable, I can offer the kitchen as an option and probably pick up more multi day rentals with it. I now have the kitchen on my order.

You’re more likely to start a fire when cooking with fire. It’s still camping…Forget the kitchen, you have 1500+ Watts of Pure Sine Wave Energy on most of these EV Trucks- you can run powertools or charge other EV’s. Also a lot of people like myself have perfected cooking with electric. All new buildings are required to have it too. Adding it to an electric car is a no-brainer. I hooked up a 1500watt inverter & Cuisinart Double Hotplate to my 1.7kW battery on my Ford Fusion Hybrid and it cooked fine. The engine would turn on every few minutes. I camped & cooked electric over 20 times. Pulling 1500watts for 20-30min. Cast-iron to cast-iron. Very efficient heat transfer. It’s not too much work to set up, but it’s a lot easier & safer when the inverter is built into the car & you don’t have to pop-the hood.

How fricking cool is the camping kitchen. Now they only need a tent attachment like on the Aptera and you have a cool camping vehicle for the weekend.

With that over-cab / bed tent, people are DEFENITLY buying that kitchen.

Buying this just for the kitchen and the other throughtful features. To me this is what solving pain points are all about. Compare this to Tesla light show or playing games on the LCD.
