My unconfirmed understanding is that this is the theme song for the Japanese release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, being released in the US 3/21 and in Japan 3/29. In Japan it's called Frozen Summer.

I haven't really been into their recent stuff, but it's still great to see them having so much success. They've worked very hard for it. 😁

I was initially on the fence about the song too. But after a few listens it's getting pretty good. They were obviously tasked with reinterpreting the original theme song and so had to work within a brief and I think they did that well. AG/Asobisystem are taking a lot of this promotional work, presumably for the payday and also to increase their profile. The pretty terrible theme song they did for the Tiger's Apprentice movie got them onto the iHeartRadio top 40. But I do worry that AG are becoming too commercially oriented and not putting out music of the quality of their first two albums and or stuff like Otona Blue and Suki Lie.

These girls are always cool! So, (from Ghostbuster News): "Japanese girl group ATARASHII GAKKO! has just released an official music video for "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire", sampling the classic Ray Parker Jr. hit. Titled "Ghostbuster: Frozen Summer", the regional name of the film within Japan" From IMDb: There is a 2024 Movie "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire". Atarashii Gakko is not listed in movie credits, and neither of the movies are listed under their own (Atarashii Gakko) credits. So, apparently this is strictly for the Japanese version of the movie. In IMDb: Under "also known as" is Japan
ゴーストバスターズ／フローズン・サマ (Google Translation: "Ghostbusters/Frozen Summer") So it appears to be same movie retitled for Japanese audience.

You're way behind. The 3rd one was the ladies with a Missy Elliott song. The 4rth was a family, the kids and friends. This is the 5th and it looks like the same characters. I'm guessing it will play during the credits when everyone leaves the theater in Japan. I loved it. I hope they made one in English for here. As a matter of fact I hope they do a separate Japanese Ghostbusters staring AG.

Happy for them that they get to do such a big project and it will without a doubt help them out a lot. That said, I can't say I enjoyed the song itself that much. They are starting to go a bit much into the electronic dancemusic direction it seems, but if it works for them I don't see why they wouldn't. I prefer their more jazzy stuff over this.

The all-female Ghostbusters was NOT the last one. They made Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a proper sequel in '21. It was written by Ivan Reitman, and, directed by his son, Jason, and, it featured Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and, Sigourney Weaver. It was actually pretty good, better than that all-female stinker, anyway.
