'Direct hit' devserver: naval mechanics and HUD changes

in this video I try to quickly go over the most noticable changes to mechanics and the HUD in the current devserver for "Direct hit"

The only thing I forgot to mention is that the sounds for machineguns and smaller autocannons have changed too, but that's something that covers the entire game.

link to that datamine I mention at the end:

I think we need a mix between the current and new aiming system HUD

Great content. Viewing at the suggestion of Flipped_Stug. I personally (and hearing many in chat complain) have issues with the change in ranging. The UI is different, and it may take some time to get accustomed to the new range adjustments. Given that I was previously making those adjustments and new what my firing range was when making adjustments, the new system has created a reduction in my overall hitrate. Many shots seem to be overshooting now, and the adjustments I was previously making with ease and feedback are now somewhat obscured and difficult to understand. The thing I dislike the most if the standard cross-hair, I used to use the vertical (elevation) mil hashes to help determine where I was aiming based on speed and direction, but now that is more difficult to do, as the vertical elevation mils are far to the side of the center. This just makes it more difficult for me to know my prior references, thus changing my typical aim-point.

I was very worried that the new mechanics were going to override the current ones, but it seems that’s not the case, which is a huge relief—I’m already well able to hit a moving DD from 10km on my first salvo and I was worried I’d have to re-learn how to shoot. Great video, thanks for the nice breakdown!

I'm still not sure how I feel about these changes but I do like that they are making the fire control a little more realistic.

I'm not really seeing anything I like here other than the new hash marks on the sight. I suppose I could get used to the new aiming system, but it should really show the gun positions in the sight. That's very important in determining when you can fire and how much broadside firepower you can use. A single color indication isn't enough. Also, they should keep the reload and overheat indicators in their current position, even if you just get an option to set them that way. Having that information as close to the center of the screen as possible is vital for good reaction time.

Awesome video. Thanks for clarifying the new changes
Lots of hard work seems to have gone to this video, it is greatly appreciated

Good video man. Frustrating that we have to make the videos for Gaijin, teaching everyone how to play their game.

I'm hoping these new changes will lower the skill ceiling and bring people over to naval RB.

Thanks for the video.

I wonder how this will affect Naval population... it was already low but idk if people will like it...

Myself i'm not sure, kind of reduces the skill floor.

Played a few matches after installing the update. I mainly play realistic battles with 4.3 UK. Sadly I don't like the changes at all. It looks and feels way to arcady for me.

are we lose the ability to "lock target" then the ship automatically give us the range of the enemy and our current gun distance?
i still confused about the new target lock and rangefinding
