On this trip, my wife and I took my Cherokee Trailhawk to do Trail 55 with our Jeep group, the NW BSJ (Bone Stock Jeep) group. We've done this trail in the past, but not since they've toughened it up. So there was some trepidation ;-) But once we got on it, it was pretty easy with a few slider bumps and an occasional brush on my skid plates due to the steepness of the tank traps.

One interesting point is the way my KL spun on it's axis on the final rock garden as my front wheels took over and dragged me over the boulders.

I also got to test out my new 31.5" Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires (245/75/R17) and they were leaps and bounds better than my stock Firestone Destination A/Ts. I highly recommend them.

All in all, a great run and am looking forward to checking out the toughened up South Loop.

Major Cherokee Upgrades:
Rocky Road Step Rails
Hazard Sky Trailihawk Spacer Lift
Dobinson Springs Suspension Lift
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 245/75R17 Tires

Something you can do is if you flip the switch on your keyless if you have tip start (the one where you still have to insert the key and you don't have a button, but you're inserting the electronic key not a metal key). That's how mine is I have the 2.4. I found out after the fact that the V6 has the push start button. . There's a switch at the top that lets you pull out a physical key. You can use that to disconnect the rest of your keychain so that it doesn't slap your dash when you're off-roading that's what I do.

Yeah angles are way more important than clearance. Angles really speak to the "functional clearance".

And he's right he doesn't have any pumpkins to worry about...

If you check the center clearance when the Cherokee Trailhawk is on 32s with a 2-in lift it will have better center clearance than a Rubicon with 35s.. I kid you not.. it's like the Wrangler with 37s to beat a built-out Cherokee KL Trailhawk. It actually is going to have a better break over angle than a four-door Wrangler with 35s. Promise.

Mine has a 2 inch lift and just 30.6 inch tires and I have a 28 degree breakover. You can do the math with any tire size calculator and break over calculator. It is beating a Wrangler Rubicon extreme Recon four-door on breakover and I don't even have 32s. And I can go at least 2 inches higher if I got 32s and the 3 inch lift.

Don't underestimate the Cherokee Trailhawk especially a modified one.

A 2-in lift and 30.6 in tires will also bring this vehicle to a 40° approach and departure angle or better. I've measured it with lasers.
