$180 for a dual core in 2017. Bravo Intel, you did it. You've made a successful scam.

I think the i5-7500 makes more sense that i5-7400. slightly more expensive but much higher clock speed

I would like to know how Intel i3 and i5 lower end market CPU stack up with the upcoming Ryzen CPU
below here the comparison:
AMD Ryzen 5 1400X 4/8 8MB 65W 3.5GHz-3.9GHz $199 (unlocked) vs Intel i5 7400 4/4 6MB 65W 3.0GHz-3.5GHz $182 (locked)
AMD Ryzen 3 1200X 4/4 8MB 65W 3.4GHz-3.8GHz $149 (unlocked) vs Intel i3 7350k 2/4 4MB 60W 4.2GHz (unlocked) $168
I hope you'd review bunch of the upcoming Zen CPU Steve!

Excellent research and presentation, Steve. This should definitely help those looking for a 7th gen Intel CPU on a low(er) budget. And I appreciate you throwing the 8370 results into the mix. Seeing the performance numbers and power usage numbers is no surprise given the age of the FX83xx chip(s) - I've been rolling with an FX8350 since 2013 myself - but it's just another reminder of where I still sit compared to the current chips and the excellent Sandy Bridge chips. Your inclusion of old chips helps folks like me who hold onto tech for a long-er while to see if upgrades are becoming worth it or not. Thanks for the work you do!

i used to use a 7350k at 5ghz on a b250 and it was actually surprisingly insane for having 2 cores and 4 threads. I was happy with it.

I'm surprised you guys don't have more subscribers, you do an amazing job of benchmarking and informing people about the new computer components.

Best of both worlds:
z170 board ----> flash an old (but official) BIOS
i5-6500 ----> BCLK OC to ~4.4 GHz
Win.

I did just buy an i5 7400 and I was like “oh shit an i3 7350k has 4, 2ghz and mine has 3, 0 that wasn’t a smart move” but then I saw this awesome video that helped me out. I rlly want to thank you for helping me And keep up the good work. ;)

I'm glad that you put Watch Dogs 2, game is insanely demanding. According to Joker test 6800K at 4.3ghz can be infront of i7 7700K on 5ghz with gtx 1080 because of insane coreload, and according to gamegpu.ru 5960X at 3ghz can noticablely pull ahead of i7 6700 with gtx 1080 SLI (~18%)
