Strymon Big Sky vs Catalinbread Talistman

I just broke out a talisman for the first time tonight. Took seconds to dial in a nice natural plate reverb and it was super quiet in my fx loop. i kept the predelay and volume knobs on zero for most of the night, but the volume knob was nice to have at the end to give a little boost. it's really a beautiful sounding pedal.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the Big Sky was on the spring reverb setting, the whole time. When parameter 2 was adjusted, those options are the spring options, not the plate options.

I like the theory of the demo, but the Talisman is a plate-style reverb.

It would be great to hear it against the Big Sky’s plate settings.

Talisman but big sky sounds decent here. Gotta give the props for having so many options on it, but again... I feel like just having an incredible plate reverb setting and a true spring on your amp (plus a couple other pedals maybe...) is all you need

Talisman is the best plate reverb. I´ve got it for that 😜.

I own both pedals and both pedals reside in their specific location on separate boards ... a lot of pedals have traveled through my hands ... these two will stay with me.

talisman is so much better, real sounding. The strymon has never impressed me, as highly as everyone talks about. That digitally sounding upward shifting and decaying reverb tails thing of theirs is has kinna become like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Talisman sounds more like the old studio recordings to me, which is what it is trying to do. Big Sky sounds good but not as classic

You have to remember the Catalinbread Talisman is base on Plate reverb only whereas the Strymon Big Sky is a hodgepodge of just about everything and is digital as well.

Nice demo, but when it comes to a basic good reverb i think the good old Digitech RV7 still can hold it's ground compared to these.
