Learn how to identify huckleberries and how to identify huckleberry bushes. Check out this epic huckleberry patch we ran into. I have been picking huckleberries for 30 years and these were the best huckleberries I have ever ran into.

This huckleberry patch was huge, it had more huckleberries than we could ever pick. I can't wait for huckleberry season again next year so I can get up there and get some more! Not only were the huckleberries big but the huckleberry plants were just full of these berries. Some were even laying on the ground due to the weight of the huckleberry plants. These huckleberries were found in the North Idaho woods, that's as much as I'm going to give in terms of location.

We found red huckleberries, blue huckleberries and my favorite big purple huckleberries. The purple ones are always the sweetest but still tart, the blue will have a more dull blue taste (closer to a blueberry) and the red ones tend to be the least sweetest and more tart.

As a fellow Idahoan. Thanks for sharing the video. And thank you even more for not sharing the location. The reward always tastes better after a journey in between the pines. However I will share this secret... Warm some peanut butter and pour thin cookie sized rounds onto wax paper. Then sprinkle them with frozen huckleberries and place in freezer. After frozen, pour a thin pancake on the griddle. Quickly place the frozen round over the pancake followed by one more thin layer of batter. Flip and you’ll have the most majestic PB&H pancake you’ve ever had. Your Welcome. Maybe I’ll make a how to video next month after harvest so stay tuned.

My yard has huckleberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries Everywhere! I also found a million service berry trees surrounding my yard! I never knew how much until I took a walk around! Everything is flowering right now

I just purchased a property in January and they are all along the property line right along with black raspberries, blackberry and crab apple trees. I have a very other things I havent been able to identify yet. I have to let them grow and see. I never new what blackberries were until today.

Nice patch man. Old logging/fire roads can be gold mines. Looking for huckleberries? Theyre ubiquitous to pretty much all higher elevations in the pnw. Go hiking, keep going higher, and they'll find you, more than you could ever eat. Just go easy on with them, they can come out a little soft of you overdo it haha...

Sadly I'm from FL. & rarely have found any wild huckleberries when I visit Montana. I go to Yellowstone & up to Glacier National Parks. I've enjoyed the ice cream, candy, preserves, muffins etc. but can rarely find any bushes of them. Is there any place you know that sells the berries by there self?

So many berries & you can't share the location...so greedy surely one person or even one family can't eat all them alone.

*_What typical environmental elitists._* You talk about how you couldn't even get all of the huckleberries picked from your new "secret" location. There were others who knew the location before you and who most likely depended on that harvest season after season, and here you are treating it as your own and trying to take it all. How many of God's animals depend on that harvest as part of their food for the year and you tried to take it all? It's wonderful to find such a blessing but the thing to do is eat a few; maybe even take enough for a snack or pie later, but to leave the majority there for those who knew the secret of it's location long before you did.
