As a painter for 35 years I can tell you that cleaning anything with WD40 that will eventually need to be repainted will cause latex paint to fish eye and fail to bond requiring either a degreaser or oil based primer before painting a time consuming and potentially expensive repair.

I was advised by a guy at a local hardware store to never spray WD40 onto door locks (that what I was after) because is will eventually clog the lock. You should only use graphite powder.

All of these are great tips. The only thing I would add is to use a dry lubricant on door hinges and locks instead of the WD-40. Dust is automatically attracted to anything wet so after a while the dust will collect in the door hinges and locks which will make it harder to use. You can find the dry lubricants right next to the WD-40 any place that sells WD-40

My dog chewed a blue bic pen and it was all over my rug in the middle of my living room and I sprayed this and scrubbed and it took it right out. Thank goodness!

Any time you spray WD-40 onto a painted surface you need to de grease that area or the next time you go to paint the paint will separate a condition called fisheye if you don’t you’re painter will get pissed off because he will need to prime it with oil based primer before the finish coat and oh by the way I’m a painter.

I'd wear gloves when using WD-40. You don't want those chemicals absorbed through your skin.

I spray my snow shovel when I start works great.

It helps keep the snow from clumping up in your snowblower and especially in the chute

Great tips...here's another one...I found a very nice painting at the back of my building...it was very dirty..I used cotton makeup remover pads sprayed with WD40 and it came up beautiful

I use it on the black plastic trim and moldings on my old Jeep. It darkens them up again and they look new again - for a few weeks anyway

For Hack #10; Great idea! However, I don’t know if the WD-40 stench is worth the shine....

Fire in the rain also sets wet wood on fire instantly 😊

Be careful spraying it on shoes because it can make the soles slippery

Stops squeaky doors? How is this a hack? Everyone buys WD-40 primarily for this reason. Lol

You forgot "Avoid porous surfaces, WD40 will leave oil stains." It also is a great rust prevention coating, and prefered air freshener of mechanics. I used to use it to restore plastics and rubbers on my car before Amorall made me a better person.
