What happened to UK Aviation?

The Avro Vulcan is celebrated as a British military aviation masterpiece, renowned for its size, speed, and maneuverability. Britain's past excellence in military aircraft design is nostalgically remembered, with hopes for a revival with the BAE Systems Tempest.

As they say, there's 4 dimensions of a plane. Length, width, height, and politics.

In short, politics ended the UK's aircraft industry. Specifically, American politics, which intentionally sabotaged the competition.

I am lucky to have cared for a gentleman and his lovely wife who helped design this beauty. He has told me so many stories about this plane and also about the Lancaster and Manchester bombers which he also helped design. I used to call him “Legend”.

The Vulcan bombers last active role was during the Falklands War. They flew a round trip of almost 8, 000 miles during operation Bkack Buck, refuelling at the Ascension Islands before bombing runways at Port Stanley.

The Vulcan uses a mechanical computer with belts and pulley from World War II and comparing to other bombers it was outclassed

Reality is air force became too small for the British aircraft industry to produce aircraft economically.

The American and Russians had the advantage of massive air forces with large enough orders for their industries

I'm lucky enough to have been in the cockpit. Incredible aircraft.

They still do, for example they make 30% of every f35, 25% of every gripen and 50% of every eurofighter

Britain never lost the way, they just begun working with other countries far more, and so you won’t really be seeing an exclusively British aircraft. For example the British have worked massively on the F-35, Gripen, Eurofighter Typhoon, and you’ve also got the Tempest up and coming.

The F35 is literally part British designed and manufactured
