Great video! Totally agree on the scooty puff jr. preamp. I wish they went with the full EMG kit and kaboodle (or darkglass!) for the preamp in this bass. Watch out on the Hipshot tuner upgrade, the stock Spector tuners are a smidge smaller and require some slight boring to the tuning holes for hipshots to fit. I did it on my Eurobolt and it was definitely worth it though!

I got the pulse 5 a few months back. Blown away. Going through hartke bass amp it is a monster. I'm a Spector fan now.

Great sounding bass. Some of the sounds with a pick are very reminiscent of Juston Chancellor's Wal sound.

Nice bass. 😎🤘🏻🎸it sounds killer clean and distorted. I totally dig how it sounded with the darkglass plugin. The vintage ultra is my personal favorite.

The same thing with the tuner happened on my Ibanez when I had it like 2 months...took the ring off of my 4 string cheap bass and later got another new ring from a music store near me...didn't even charge me for it + a 3mm pick

I'm a little bit worried about the color's loss. How it could be possibile? It shoud be a lifetime bass...it's also Spector's motto :(

This is a great sounding bass but the fact that the tuners are so bad and the paint rubs off is a total deal breaker in a bass of this price range. They should have spent less money on a meme finish and instead given us the full EMG pre amp and decent tuners. Maybe it's just me but I feel there are a lot of misses with Spector lately (i.e. the neck divey NS Dimension with its weak B string). There's always some sort of major compromise unless you can splash for the full made in New York models.

If you were to remove the preamp and go pickups straight to jack, what would the control layout look like for you? would all the knobs serve a purpose or would there be "dummy knobs"? COnsidering this bass, love EMGs, unsure about preamp based on yours and Lobster's review. Thanks!

See if you can get a Schecter Model T session. Same pickups better pre amp and cheaper.
