For me, one of the worst things they did to URF was start to remove AP scalings from some champions outside of URF, mainly ADCS. Those useless scalings became really fun for me to play with now that I could spam them. AP caitlyn being my absolute favorite as I spammed traps and nuked with net, but has absolutely zero value from auto attacks, ult, or Q. Most URF devolves into facerolling into the enemy, but those niche AP builds surprisingly made me play slightly more tactically in an otherwise mindless game mode. I loved it.

The first few days of the original URF were the best time I had in League right next to the first Doom Bots.

Nobody really knew the op picks, people did random trolling, random itembuilds, what if I build AP on this champion etc

Anyone remember with ZZ'rot you could turn URF into StarCraft?
Edit: On a related note I miss the Black Market Special Minions and wish they would bring back that as a mechanic.

Garen was more op than Hecarim. You could start his spin, instantly cancel it, the cd will be refunded, then cast and cancel it again, keep repeating. However, canceling the ability wouldn't stop the damage, so you could have multiple spin damage sequences overlapping each other and melt through tanks even at level 1 in only a couple seconds.

What you said in the end that you get tired of URF much faster than before, I feel just the same. I want URF to be a gamemode where I try out stuff on champs I usually play that would never work usually. But ARURF stops me from doing that, and with URF people tryhard too much with broken champs that it's just not fun so I would really like if Riot actually tried to balance URF and release it with All Random

And it may just have been a one time thing, but going over the history of some of the other roatating game modes could be an interesting series besides the champion reworks since some people may not even know how some of the older were back then depending on when they started with league.

I still remember my first game of URF! When I had played my first game, it was actually only accessible through a custom game for some reason? I think the patch had come out but there was no official mode yet. People just had open lobbies and nobody had any idea what was happening. The pure chaos of the very first game and everybody trying to figure out what was going on was some of the most fun I've had.

Arurf was the best and is so much fun with friends, i actually wanted nurf so bad as a game mode i wanted to see who would capitalize in this ultra molasses smeared mode

When they announced NURF, I first considered it to be just a April Fools joke. However, after they kept the joke running, I bought into the idea and strategized how would I be able to actually play that horrible game mode, by trying to circumvent the arbitrary nerfs to game mechanics. I had all champions back then (and it was before the Runes Reforged), so I spent 40k IP (basically blue essence) into some very non-optimized runes that I thought would be efficient on NURF. I wasn't pleased when I wasn't able to test out my hypotheses :c

you were speaking of CDR as it wasnt possible to exceed the 45% limit that was before, but in the Nexus blitz mode that blue buff granted 10% cdr max cap and 10% cdr, meaning by normal means 55% was possible, and when URF was introduced for Nexus Blitz, both the rune and the blue buff still incraeased the cap... granting 95% CDR, yep, 95% cdr in URF was a thing in Nexus blitz, leaving champs like gragas to perma cc people by legit getting his E back up before its casting was even done, and champions like Tryndamer to actully be unkillable as long as he didnt get silenced

I love urf because it helps you understand a champ more when you can see what abilities really shine in team fights above the rest as well as being such a short game mode

I haven't played League after the 2nd URF mode. It's very nostalgic for me because I remember I was in 8th grade, reading on the patch notes for URF and joking with my friend that there's no way in hell Riot will implement something like this. Following that (to my suprise) were probably my most enjoyable 2 weeks of League of Legends ever. Wild West Urf as a kid is just cocaine mixed with speed, one of the best times of gaming I ever had

It was fun back then that's how I would remember it. I remember the event only lasting like, 2 days but they decided to extend it because of how much fun it was. Helicopter Hecarim was actually cancer but also playing as swain where your just a bird permanently was fun.

I really started getting into league with friends right before 2015 urf came out. It was such a blast when it came out. pure fun chaos

I wish riot would do more simple changes like snow battle urf. I don't even remember the champion restriction, but the added snowball was so much fun to use

Man orginal urf was so damn fun. My friend and I played taric and nunu and at that time they both had point and click stuns. So much fun man.

The winter urf was really fun

First of all based on the skins and themes, a lot of annoying broken champs weren't available.

And secondly one of your summoner spells was a snowball (like in ARAM), except it had a range that went from MID to TOP, so basicly global snipes were really fun.
