I lived through the seventies as a young boy in a village nestled in the Lot valley. As a young kid it felt so remote from civilization, there was no freeway access, barely one TV station you could pick up, 2 faint radio stations I could listen music from on my alarm clock radio, biggest town Toulouse was a 3 hours drive on windy roads. Yet at the same time it felt so connected to history, you could literally pick up cavemen rocks and arrow heads off the ground, hear about the last Gaul battle in the region, and cross the Valentré bridge twice a day to go to school. In hindsight after all those years traveling the world, I can only remember how beautiful and peaceful that place was, and how blessed those young years were.

I stopped in an utterly exquisitely located guest house near Rocamadour as part of a drive from Manchester to Barcelona about 15 years ago. Unforgettably beautiful area.
IMHO France has the best tourist destinations on the planet.

Going to my parents house in Prayssac on the 7th August I can't wait. The most perfect place to go on holiday is the lot valley
