2021 Yamaha WR450F Off-Road Motorcycle Bike Introduction Test | Racer X Films

The Yamaha WR450F is an all-new bike for 2021, and many of the changes that occurred with the YZ line last year are now incorporated into the WR model. The off-road bike features a bigger tank, skid plate, o-ring chain, 18-inch rear wheel, odometer, lighter spring rate, off-road specific suspension characteristics, headlight, and much more. So what did we think? The frame change that Yamaha made makes the bike seem lighter with side-to-side movement, it's more nimble than the previous model. The engine character is very lively and free but also works well down low in the RPM range. Now, where did Yamaha leave some room for improvement? I wish it came with handguards, and the suspension could be a bit stiffer. All things considered, this is a great package for getting out on the trails for hours on end.

My dad bought one of these new in 2005, took it out to some of the best/harshest trails baja has to offer every weekend or so for years, then sold it to his riding buddy who still uses it today. It is still running great.

Good review, in 2019 they really sorted out the WR range, here our 2021 WRs do have the wifi power tuner app and map switch as std, must be a US emissions thing, we are all FAB like the YZ. great bike..

I know you have a motocross background and have tested motocross bikes including the 2020 CRF450R which I currently ride. Is the 2021 WR450 capable of hitting jumps on a motocross track?

I only weigh 155 so the spring may not be soft for me but the valving could be an issue on motocross tracks.

Very good review! I'm 6 feet tall and a muscley 205 pounds so with gear that puts me a 230lbs. Would the wr250f be enough boke to pull me around as a B plus east coast enduro rider or would the 450 serve me better? Also, is it easy to get forward on the bike for flat bermless corners....does the seat and shroud area resist you moving forward? Thanks, Steve from Ohio.

Funny how you Cali boys always mention "the east coast" when you talk about tight woods riding. Just a reminder, California is the only west coast state out of 3 (yes there is other west coast states other than Cali) that is desert. The other two have tight wood riding. 2018 YZ250FX rider.

Can anyone in the audience answer if you can purchase the 2021 YZ 450 F GYTR Ported head assembly and HC racing piston on the 2021 WR450F/YZ450FX??? Aren't they the exact same engines apart from mapping and transmission? Looking to own a 4 stroke again, and naturally owning the 2016 YZ250FX last time, I would like to move up in displacement this time - especially since I currently own a new lightweight TM Racing EN300ES 2 stroke to cover riding thats easier on the body. ;) Beautiful machine!!!

Does anyone know if the 2021 or 2022 WR450F is green sticker eligible in CA? Stupid C.A.R.B. law making 2022 models that aren't green sticker to be confined to MX tracks only, which is bullshit. I have a deposit on a 2022 YZ250X, but if I can't ride it off road (in it's natural habitat), then I need to find a green sticker bike. I know the CRF450X is 100% green sticker ready, but unsure about the WR450F.
