This is spot on. just as one example of this, you can fly to a planet to mine some resource, and hours later not even started to accomplish what you initially intended. great game.

I love games like this; I'm just sad it took me this long to discover it. But, as an old lady gamer, I play it to relax, so I tone down the fighting (I have other games to play if I'm in the mood to fight).

You hit the nail on the head. The beauty of NMS is exploring and getting side tracked. I haven't touched the main story in awhile because I'm too busy doing missions, exploring star systems and fighting pirates. I just started playing in the last few weeks, over 100 hrs in and I've still barely scratched the surface. Trying my first expedition (Liquidators) taught me a lot. This games is perfect for my ADHD lmao

Im having a ton of fun. Last night I found a planet with a ton of burial sites and drip pods. Was able to max my exosuit inventory slots and buy 3 starships, 1 of them is an A class.

I played NMS on Day 1 and loved it already, imagine how I like it these days!
I keep a written list of things I want to do and still get distracted all the time. So I understand your talk!

600 hours, Day 1 preorder player here: you’re absolutely spot on. No Mans Sky is a game about traveling, wandering, not being sure where you’ll end up one day to the next. You can definitely do repetitive things (and have fun) but like - today, I listened to podcasts while I hiked a desert planet because I liked the vibe and I wanted to find an S-class sulphurine gas node, so I just went for a 2 hour hike, which turned into hours of reading knowledge stones, because I noticed there were lots on this planet, and doing side quests for autophage along the way, before I ever found my node, and then I spent a couple hours building a nice little house because I’ll probably come back to this planet from time to time because the weather and vast openness of the dunes was pleasant and easy to traverse and I could see myself spending hours just learning Vy’keen words from knowledge stones etc. and this was all because I needed sulphurine, because I have “junk” in my inventory that I needed it for to craft better value things to sell (stasis devices). There’s so much different to do to fill the time and vibe out. The game keeps aging like a bottomless wine

And you haven't yet looked at finding sentinel ships, hehe. Once I discovered that in the game oh, I was hooked!

My favorite thing ever is exploring derelict freighters and hunting down the rewards and creatures inside .

My tip would be put a portal in every base you build than name the base for the reason you built the base. IE.. copper planet, sentinel ship planet, fungus etc.

Well put. Something people tend to lose sight of is that NMS is all about exploration. This doesn't just apply to finding planets, fauna, or flora, but includes game mechanics. What the missions teach you to do is only a tiny fraction of what you CAN do.

I got sidetracked from the main mission making and selling donuts for units. Space donuts.

Even after all is said and done, and you are caught up on the content, the exploration factor keeps me going. A VR headset turns these crazy planets into an amazing experience, so I spend most of my time looking for the rare ones and building teleport bases.

I'm 40 hours in now I really enjoy the vastness of the game. I just found out you can get a living ship! Vorlon fantasy. I really appreciate listening to someone who enjoys gaming. Thank you.

Something else that’s really nice about the game is just how chill and relaxing it can be. For the last couple weeks after work and the wife go to bed I hop on to make progress with the expedition and most nights I fall asleep playing because of the soothing audio of the game. It’s a nice change from going to bed stressed from playing competitive games online lol

I just read an article saying only 1 percent of no man's sky has been explored?
I just started playing it again for the second time and also have found how cool and different it is.
I probably only have 10 hours in and am still learning the basics but it blows me away by how massive the game is and how much you can do.
Ive mostly just mined and completed a few of the initial quests that help with tool crafting.
Amazing game

I have over 500 hours on my Xbox one and there was an update and it had such a bad glitch it would just end the game. So because I loved this game I got an PS5 and now have over 700 hours. I even went and started my Xbox and started giving my PS5 character all my stuff from Xbox. I now have over 1.3 billion units and 400k nanites. I have loved playing this game and have loved watching this game evolve.
