This Animation 'Prove' The Speed of Light Is Torturously Slow. In earth yes is fast, but cosmic ? In this video you will see how fast is Speed of Light when it takes an orbit around surface of Planets.

Speed of light, speed at which light waves propagate through different materials. In particular, the value for the speed of light in a vacuum is now defined as exactly 299,792,458 metres per second.
The speed of light is considered a fundamental constant of nature.
Its significance is far broader than its role in describing a property of electromagnetic waves. It serves as the single limiting velocity in the universe, being an upper bound to the propagation speed of signals and to the speeds of all material particles. In the famous relativity equation,
E = mc2, the speed of light (c) serves as a constant of proportionality, linking the formerly disparate concepts of mass (m) and energy (E).

An excellent way to illustrate the speed of light, a figure which we like to think is blazing fast, but once put into perspective by the sheer scale of the universe and the distances between planetary bodies, is well, frustratingly pedestrian.

It’s strange it’s one of those rare examples of something that is genuinely both very fast and very slow depending on what scale you’re thinking about it.

Excelent video as always. 0:46 that "thing" hanging on the wall reminds that we're not alone 🤯

I would love to see an extended version of this where all the distances at the last table were also animated. I love your videos, they're so atmospheric and illustrative.

This is what I’ve been waiting for, some kinda visual explanation ☺️ This is great. Thank you.

To us the speed of light is exceptionally fast but in the grand scale of the universe it's slow as heck. And I love the presentation you have made keep it up man

Are we just gonna ignore the alien on the wall?

Has anyone noticed the scary looking bug-like creature lurking in the upper right of the screen, visible when the camera pans from Earth to Neptune at 0:48? Disturbing...

I had no idea light went the other direction when you get bigger. Fascinating.

The speed of light seemed to me insanely fast but after this video it seems to me insanely slow against the space distances 😱

I have to say I am really impressed with this video. The wealth of knowledge and the amazing visualizations really makes this stand out from other comparison types.

Such a hard concept to visualize! This did it beautifully. Great work!

The "light beam " visualization on the planets is only accurate from Neptune upwards, all the smaller planets it's just eye candy because the eye cannot disinguish those "frame rates" or orbit speeds, Neptune and up is the real surface speed visualisation, just so you know. Great video, speed of light is fascinating :)

Really creative! I would have also liked to see it go around the sun. And this also means that if a star explodes, the explosion will actually happen pretty slowly (when compared to how smaller objects explode on Earth).

Can we appreciate the fact that Saturn’s rings got their own animation and calculation?

If you've ever played elite dangerous, you know that the speed of light is not nearly fast enough for travel across even the solar system, nevermind the universe.

Amazing. Personally, it blew my mind to think of this as illustrating the speed of causality instead of the speed of light.

It is crazy to realize that the faster thing we know is extremely slow in the universe scale . We can feel it already on large planets.

A cool experiment that I used to love to do as a kid. I didn’t fully understand it then but it was cool. Go in the bathroom and turn the lights off and let your eyes get used to the dark completely. Then flick the light on for a half second and then back off again. But you have to keep your eyes open, you can’t blink when you do it. Your eyes will see the image of your bathroom even after the light is turned off but it looks like a negative image.

The speed limit of the universe is unbelievably low.
