How To Fix Your Golf Swing Plane (PGA PRO EXPLAINS!)

Jim Roy shows us what he's done throughout his golf career to keep his swing plane in check, and a few drills and feels you can start using to fix your swing plane.

When it comes to fixing your golf swing plane, we're mainly concerned with the position of your club from the right hip to the left hip.

We're not concerned as much with the backswing at this point.

The fact is, we're all built differently, and we have our own idiosyncrasies in our swing...

Even on the PGA Tour, when you look at players like Jim Furyk, Freddy Couples, and Jason Dufner, their backswings are all different, but they all arrive at impact in a fairly similar position.

To begin, you'll always start, of course, in a good athletic position at address... and, well... Just watch the video to see how it's done!

I like to top the ball. It's kinda "my signature".

My signature move is to be stiff as a board on take away and back swing, mess everything up on the down swing and in the moment of truth part of the swing chunk the shit out of it and proceed to getting my double and triple bogeys .

Great video. I have spent years trying to fix my upright backswing and just today I had a major breakthrough following a horrendous round yesterday. Then tonight I saw your video and am feeling very confident.... Finally.

Great video and instruction Jim. Have been tinkering with my swing, for too long, resulting in mid 90 scores.
My recent scores prior to you fixing my swing plane 92, 92, 88, 86, 91 then i watched your video, practiced for an afternoon and shot 83, 81. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I just completed reading these golf swing strategies, Jοmtοnο Naha (Go ogle it) last week before heading out and putting the exercises to the test. I had been at it for Thirty years, but I was astonished that my swinging skills was still improved. Aside from that, the practice drills also helped fine-tune some small but crucial positions that I once thought did not mean much.

Not to be cranky, but the DTL camera MUST be directly behind/in line with your hands and above the belt line. Good video.

here's several ideas for how to improve your golf
Practise your golf swing in slow motion
Position your feet correctly
discover the correct body posture
(I discovered these and the reasons they work from Gavs golf tactic website )

Ernie Els also seems to swing with the club swinging inside then up to the finish! Thank you for explaining these positions!

I'm saving this video and taking it on my tablet with me to the golf driving range and I feel like this video could be the key difference in getting me from the range to the course.

Best tip in 45 years. Dragging the club

picking up the club is my biggest fault; when i do that i tend to start trying to swing the thing. but, 75% with arms and 25% with the body may go a long way to explaining a lot of things. it should be 0% with the body and less than 50% with the arms on the way back. so what makes up the 50+%, well it isn't the hips. it is below the hips. and it is in the right side and not the left side. and it is not in the right side of the right side. it is in the left side of the right side. of course the positioning of the head plays its role, too. and then there is the grip. it's never ending.

Clubhead behind the hands at position 1 = bad

When I do this drill, shaft parallel from there I hinge the wrist and raise my arms the problem for me when I put it in to a swing it feels like 2 steps not one motion to the top. Any thoughts?
Thx
