I’d still love to be able to buy the kit.

Just put mine together too. Shipping was super fast and it was packed well.
The kit was fairly easy to assemble. Cutting that plastic tube it will inevitably crack (at least on the SM58) and hopefully cleanly. Mine wasn't a little crack like Caleb's, the whole bottom cracked, but I was able to just use the other half.

The other thing was the screw 5/8" adapter just refused to go in straight. I'm not sure if it's the tolerance of the metal or plastic that's off, but after 10 minutes I finally got it to line up by force, and it went in about 2/3 of the way before stopping without fear of it breaking if I went further. So my brass washer isn't flush, but it's still solid.

I did not end up putting tape around the bottom of my mic, I just rotated the inside sleeve to be on the "screw side".

All in all it came out well, and LOOKS great on camera. And it sounds great, which is the most important.

Recommendations for the kit: Include the 5/8" screw and maybe preinstall it. You always need it anyway, and it'll make sure it fits. Or, alternatively, countersink the threads a little more, so that it inserts into the hole a little before hitting the threads, which will greatly help align it since it'll already be in the 'channel'.

Overall, great job, really happy with it. Thanks.

I'd love to be able to drop my Samson Q2U in this, but the handle on it is a little longer and wider than the SM58

Hello year later, great video! I was wondering when is the version of the SM58 with switch is going to drop?

I kind of want to go with a white version of this, but I wonder if it is possible to 3d print a yoke mount as well?

This project is driving me insane. I've made multiple bodies and SEVERAL grills. Nothing is screwing in together. I've gone into the slicer and tried to fix to and reprint but none of the threads are working. Even the threads on the mount piece do not work with the Cavmate piece you included in the description. The piece will screw on to a regular microphone stand but not the adapter you included.

What am I doing wrong? How do I fix the threads to make them work. Everything screws in sideways and never grips anything. I've broken the grills trying to make it work

Yet another awesome product 🏆 I purchased your MicBack 3D Printing Kit and waiting for my friend to make them for me. I will send you a link to the video I create. I love your thinking outside the box. 👍🏻 I already own a SM7B cost me $650 (AUD) 👀

This is awesome! Just wondering what size does the bottom of the ball head have to be, to fit on table top mic stands? Most ball heads I’ve found are 3/8 or 1/4, but mic stands are 5/8. Thoughts?

Where can I get the insert? It wasn't in the folder of files to print?

Would a sm57 or a sl75c fit in this kit?

Amazing video, thank you I have been looking for something like this for a long time!
I'm building this but instead of masking tape or the plastic insert, I think that a thin caoutchouc rubber sheet works even better.
Holds the microphone, you can easily cut it to size, and most importantly it does a really good job of absorbing vibration and handling noise especially if you are using a table stand.
Maybe this helps for a future update 🙂

Hey Caleb!

This is such a great product. I’m looking to purchase this in Canada and I saw that it’s not in stock. Any idea when it’ll be available? Also, do you ship to Canada?
