I am a retired 80yo mechanical engineer it brings absolute joy to my heart seeing you doing such a spectacularly effective job of dismantling the corporate abuse of talent.

I remember a janitor job I had. I was paid to be there for 4 hours. My first day, I finished my work in 30 minutes. I told my boss, and I was rewarded with doing everyone else's job for the rest of the 3.5 hours. From then on you couldn't find me working. I'd finish my work within 20 minutes of arriving and read audiobooks in the changing room until I was no longer paid to consume oxygen on property. Fuck these weirdos.

If someone completes their work at both jobs I don't want to hear these companies complain. People are playing a system that's normally stacked against them and are winning. People should absolutely take advantage of these companies, they do the same to you every single day and don't bat an eye.

But there are people who sit on multiple boards of different companies. 🙄 And it's all legal. "Interlocking directorates"

Fox News: People are lazy and aren’t doing anything to earn money, stop being a leech and get a job
People: *get two jobs*
Fox News: Not like that!

🤦🏽‍♀️

It's funny how these executives and CEOs will say this is immoral and these are signs of a horrible employee. Yet these are the same people who sit on 3-4 boards and also run 2-3 other businesses??? How can they make additional income and grow their net worth but scuffed at someone who is trying to do the same??

The Soviets had a wonderful saying: "You pretend to pay me, I'll pretend to work." I remember some time ago my boss found out that I was working a side gig as a EMT. He called me into the office and told me that working a second job creates a conflict of interest. I told him that there's no conflict of interest working as a librarian and an EMT. If he went into hypoglycemia (boss was a diabetic) would he bother to ask if EMT or paramedic had a second job?

"Is it unethical? I don't care. Is it immoral? My morals are flexible to the need to my extent to feed my family". Love it! I love the no BS straightforward talk.

I notice that any time a worker has more leverage, all of sudden the company has a problem with it.
If a worker needs multiple jobs, usually the reason is because their main job isn't paying them a
livable wage.

These days getting the job done isn’t enough. You have to be a “team player” and suck the skin off your overseers.

You're not an employee for a company you're a service for a company. Companies probably don't have loyality with you, they're probably just "playing business".

If Fox news wants us to work on a single job. Then, we should have job security, better salaries and affordable housing. There's no guarantee that a job isn't gonna let you go immediately for any reason or pay you for the hours you're spending there. So, we need to watch out for ourselves.

In 2019 I was a sales consultant working my butt off to be the #1 salesman in the district. I had the highest numbers and would even use my personal time to go market and sell all to get the management position, you know what happened? I got stiffed by middle management and they brought in a new guy who had previous experience at another company. I went to the restroom and cried. That day I learned what company loyalty is.

This man SPOKE THE TRUTH !!! You do not get to decide when you "climb the corporate ladder" at your job. It is always up to them to decide when you move up to fulfill some sort of need or requirement THEY have. You can work your tail off DAY AND NIGHT, but you will NOT get that promotion unless they need you to do even more work. I am in Silicon Valley and for anyone reading this - just know that it is NOT a meritocacy - and the only freedom you have is to change jobs; but if you can work TWO jobs, then go for it. You are getting paid to fulfill a SPECIFIC need and not to be at their "beck and call" to fulfill EVERY need, which is a mistake I see many NEW, YOUNGER workers do and what I was guilty of doing also. God Bless The Internet !!!

I just wanted to say, I work two Full-Time Dev jobs. I'm doing so good at both of them one refused to let me go, offering a bigger salary when I put in my two weeks notice, the other promoted me not once, but twice in 6 months. Oh and to boot, the first one also opened a whole state, so I can be the only employee working from that state. So the idiot that said "Being mediocre at two jobs.... blah blah blah." Nah my dude, I'm a fuckin rockstar and I'm getting the damn paycheck to go with it. I'll have a house paid for, in cash, in two years. A nice one. Kiss my a$$.

I remember when I used to BEG for more hours at Walmart and got brushed off. Once they found out I picked up a second job they tried to guilt me by saying, “don’t you have a toddler at home? Working 2 jobs isn’t good for you.” I told them, “thanks for caring, are you going to give me more hours here?” They gave me a false promise, I left that other job (with benefits—I was naive and in my early 20s). 8 months passed and still no change in hours, so I quit.

I bet most of these executive-level people that might complain are on the board of one or more other orgs, where they collect a paycheck for attending a meeting once or twice a year.

Dude, someone finally gets it. I was a fool killing myself for a single paycheck, now I'm gonna pay off a house in two years for about 30 hours of work a week.

This is the way.
