Autocad 2020 - How to use Offset (4 examples in 4 minutes)

It is used to draw parallel lines or making polylines and circles inscribed in others.

I've drawn an odd shape using lines and it is an enclosed shape. But when I use 'join', and select the source and the rest of the lines, I got this error - 0 lines joined to source, 5 objects discarded from operation. Is there something wrong with my settings or selections? Please help. Thank you in advance.

Hi! I hope you can teach me because I cannot use my offset distance, I cannot find that small box where distance is entered. It was there before but when my app lagged suddenly it doesn't show up. Is there a key or command that I can use to see it?

How would I offset a particular line that is part of a polyline? By that I mean, ONLY that line and not the whole shape?

when i use offset through the dimensions are wrong like if i give 100m it'll be 9.84, 9.98, 9.45 .
if i use only offset no problem but in through not a single time i got dimension right
