Fun fact he was originally going to be the lead singer for The Time but Prince fired him before the band even played a show 😂😂

This album is FIRE 🔥. You are one of the VERY few that’s done this song. Thank you for keeping my generations R&B alive. R.

The off timing you mentioned is called "lagging", its a technique that was used in jazz music back in the day.

Alexander O'Neal and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were lightning in a bottle!!! it is a tragedy that outside circumstances prevented them from working together in the years following their time working together in the mid to late 80's. Alexander O'Neal could have kept the hits coming in the 1990's. "What Is This Thing Called Love" and "All True Man" were his last big hits in 1990-1991. what could have been. . .

I HIGHLY recommend you react to the whole album. It's a loose concept album that takes place at a party Alexander O'Neal is throwing and each song and skit ties it all together. It's an INCREDIBLE experience from start to finish. It was produced by the legendary Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
The context will make more sense if you listen to the WHOLE album. This is only one chapter.

Generic r&b feel? WTF? Dude this was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the whole album was and it’s considered a classic!
