Myanmar Coup: The United Nations' Stand | In Conversation | António Guterres, UN Secretary-General

Myanmar’s military stunned the world when it recently seized power. It has detained Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior members of the elected government, ending a decade of civilian rule. The United Nations Security Council met in an emergency meeting but failed to make a unified statement condemning the coup. Is this the end of democracy in Myanmar and a return to military rule?

In an exclusive interview with CNA, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres tells Lin Xueling that he backs peaceful civil disobedience against the coup, as the UN does “everything we can in order to make the international community aware”.

Situation in Myanmar (#Feb13Coup, 9:00pm)

Night are not safe anymore with serious violation of Basic Human Rights in Myanmar

1
The military just announced that they invoke article 419 to revoke article 5, 7 and 8 of 2008 constitution (basic human rights protection of the people ). The effects are:

1) they can arrest without warrants;
2) they can search the houses without the presence of the ward administrative officer;
3) they can track people down;
4) they can seek for information from the operators;
5) they can detain people for more than 24 hours.

According to those, they can go in and out every house without any permission or warrent, and they can search everywhere and can arrest everyone.

2

The military released the prisoners yesterday.

The released prisoners tried to poison the apartment water tanks in several townships during night time.

Yesterday Night
Released prisoners throw "Fire Rings" and burning in most streets of Tharkayta, Yangon around 8:30PM.

3
Tonight the prisoners were putting poison in the drinking water pipes of apartments in NgaMoeYeik Township.

Myanmar people have to build barriers around the streets or wards to protect themselves from the criminals released from prisons by the military. Local people arrest them and ask the prisons about who order them to do it.

Aung San Suu Kyi was just a State Counselor. She had to show she was supportive of the military, otherwise she would have been overthrown a long time ago. The rewritten constitution allocates 25% of of the parliament seats to the military. No other country that practices democracy has ever done that.

Indeed, violence is not an answer. However, people have to show their unity and also show that it is not ok to put our country for sale for a few powerful people on the top.

Yeap in France the yellow vests protested as well and got viciously beaten up by the Police, all over Europe people protest against lock downs and they get savagely assaulted by the Police... but than you have Antonio Guterres coming out and say people in Myanmar have the right to protest... that's right I agree. Mr Guterres people all over Europe do also have a right to protest when their governments become authoritarian when are you commenting on that, that's the issue when Europe leaders want to put one of their puppets in power but can't succeed than they use the democratic stand in first place and use the People of Myanmar to get to their end trying to get a outcry from the international community, which is themself again.
