He's overly proud at finding out about things that the community has known basically forever, some going back before C++.

That pure virtual functions can be defined is something you *should* have known about already.

Case labels are cousins to goto labels: he should have shown some of the crazy things that can be written because of that, useful clever tricks from the C days (like having an if/else as the body of the switch statement with labels among the code) before optimizes figured out everything.
