A pair of dangerous storms in the Gulf of Mexico threaten the U.S. mainland. Recently-upgraded Hurricane Marco It is expected to make landfall on Monday. Not far behind is Laura, a tropical storm with the potential to grow to a hurricane. CBS News meteorologist and climate specialist Jeff Berardelli joins CBSN's Lana Zak to talk about the hurricane season.

It’s very possible Lura may do the Fujiwhara effect with Marco, absorb it, and may enhance the rainfall.

If your wondering this is climate change. It isn’t, yes global warming is making hurricanes stronger, but there’s other factors that can effect hurricanes like El Niño/La Niña Oscillation and the AMO (Atlantic multidecadal oscillation). The Madden–Julian oscillation which can enhance rainfall. Obviously global warming is a big problem and needs to be solved. But human caused climate change isn’t causing this.

Also even though these may only be a cat 1 and 2, We’re expecting a 4-8’ storm surge. Image 8 feet of water heading strait for your home. Be prepared.

where i live in the uk we get winds of 60-90 miles an hour every winter, so thats the same sort of winds you get in a mild hurricane?
