A. Scott Berg, Author, 'Wilson'

Our guest is Pulitzer prize-winning author, A. Scott Berg. He discusses his latest work, the newly released biography of President Woodrow Wilson titled, "Wilson." Berg points out that 2013 is the 100th anniversary of Wilson's inauguration as the nation's 28th President.

Just saw this lecture on Wilson recorded at The Filson Historical Society (on KET) and I was very impressed. I learned a lot about Wilson and I have to say that Wilson was a FASCINATING president. Very knowledgeable AND entertaining (I enjoyed Berg's humor 😊).
I was REALLY shocked to know that Wilson created the process of learning that all colleges use today. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏿😊.

"When the Cheering Stopped" was the second Wilson book I read. It is marvelous.

Outstanding interview. Back reading to this era has to be Barbara Tuchman's Guns of August and The Zimmerman Telegram. Tuchman is dismissive of Wilson. He had some very talented,
knowledgeable people around him that he treated like schoolboys in a Wilson classroom according to Tuchman. Except for 'Col' House' who eventually left the scene, also. I am curious about House's, Bryan's, Lansing's and the senators' opinion of Wilson's time in the White House.

bull feathers! his biography on charles lindbergh missed several mistresses [2 were sisters] and illegitimate children. they lived in europe; he would visit the children and their mothers several times over a period from 1952 - 1974. the children waited until after anne lindbergh died in 2001 to tell the world about their famous father 'lucky lindy'.

This guy is a total Revisionist. Read "When The Cheering Stopped." You'll get it. And more than Berg. Sorry, but its true.

I never recovered from his oft-tedious Perkins biography. Pass.

Disappointing biography that I wanted to like or at least respect. Perhaps the most worshipful biography written about a President ever, including the various works of Theodore H. White. The more Mr. Berg assures us of Wilson’s genius and his “man of the times” perspective on race, the less credibility this book deserves - to the point that it is often unreadable. Too bad because history deserves better than this apologia.
