John Cale - Hallelujah (SHREK) | LYRICS

What a lot of folks don't realize is that "Hallelujah" by Rufus Wainwright (which is an amazing rendition of Leonard Cohen's original song) isn't actually the version that's in 2001's Shrek. Wainwright recorded his version for the original movie soundtrack. The film version of "Hallelujah" was actually performed by John Cale. Due to a licensing and/or rights issue, the studio had Wainwright record his version for the official soundtrack. Nevertheless, Cale's version is a forceful yet faithful cover of Cohen's song and was the perfect version to set the tone for the events of the movie. I hope you guys enjoy this lyric video!
