It's always so reassuring to see those lively bubbles when you pull the jars. Nice work, Leisa.

Hello today is 8/9/22 I found your video on canning this salmon, I’m so going to do this today. I grew up in Alaska and, never had no interest to learn how to preserve food.my grandma and mom always did it. I’m so sad that they both are gone. So this past year and a half I been learning how to do stuff on YouTube. Thank you all for being here for us.

Yes. Beats store bought all to pieces.
Yep cold food in jars into hit water or even heated too fast = bottoms breaking out of jars = loss of food & jars. Ugh.

Patties are good. I use almond flour with mine. And make a mustard sauce.
Salmon salad...try minced salmon, dill relish, lemon juice, garlic powder, & cayenne pepper with smoked paprika. Yummy.

I wasn't crazy about salmon salad until my mom made some and served it on onion rolls instead of plain bread. I make my salmon salad the same as tuna salad, but I use lemon pepper instead of plain pepper. For Keto instead of serving with bread or crackers, I scoop it up with pork rinds.

We had a “seafood guy” when we lived in Costa Rica one hour up in the mountains off the Pacific coast! Omg, we bought all sorts that he bought right off the docks and then drove up into the villages selling out of the back of his little Datsun p/u...there’s nothing like having a person that can deliver five inch prawns and anything you wanted for the best sushi ever.

You've inspired me. I was always afraid to can fish (I'm a newbie ... about 10 months in) but I love salmon so I think I'm going to try this. Thanks for the great video.

I got a bunch of trout fillets for 50% off the other day so I canned up four pints following along with this video. Thank you Leasa for all you have taught me over the last 18 months since I started canning food!

Thanks to your video I finally took the plunge. Wish I could post a picture. I did it. Not once, but twice and they came out spectacularly. I seasoned them up as I usually do and let the canner do the rest. I've since opened two jars and they were heavenly. I then went and bought some Tilapia and canned it too. Now I have to make a special non-spicy salmon batch for my MIL because she's got a sensitive stomach. I've already mailed her some of my lamb and chicken jars and she loved them. Thanks again for your wonderful videos.

It works fantastic with Tuna Helper. Follow the recipe but add drained salmon ( skin off and check bones).. the microwave recipe is no longer on the box bit it’s 11 minutes on high.

I grew up on my grandma's canned salmon. By the time I was in my teens, she stopped doing plain and only did smoked. I remember getting tiny 4oz jars out and opening them with her and enjoying a little salmon & caper snack on crackers out on the deck in summer, sometimes topped with chopped onion tops from her garden. She had pints for meals, but she loved her little 4oz's for snacks/lunches. Besides salmon patties, I think she mostly used it in alfredo sauce. Maybe next fall, pull out Phil's smoker and try 1/3 or so that way? We are outside Seattle, so it was Alder smoked all the way!

The best way I've found to stop cross contamination is to use a cutting mat that can go in the dishwasher - first I scrub the plastic cutting mat by hand - and then put it in the dishwasher. Wood can absorb things that I feel I can't scrub away.

Oh goodness I will have to try this. I have not yet canned any fish. I use salmon in cream cheese for a tasty dip but I've never made patties. I will try them now. Thank you!
