You Weren't Rejected But God Was Protecting You! | Rejection Is Not The End Of The Road |

Many people are familiar with the word NO, not because it is a usual two-lettered English word indicating negation or disapproval, but because it has been used on them so many times that they have lost count. Probably more than any other word, NO has been used many times to reject many people. It may be the response to a simple request for a meal. It could be the reply to your submitted business idea. That’s what someone got for asking a lady to marry him. From the common things to the most defining issues of life, almost everyone of one of us has gotten this word of rejection.

But NO is not the only word used to express rejection. While that verbal denial can be very harsh, there are more subtle ways of rejection. Silence is one of them. All the same, in whatever ways rejection comes, it is never a pleasant experience. At the point of rejection, many things begin to pass through one’s mind. One begins to feel inadequate, not complete and deficient. These things and feeling that go through your mind are not true. They are voices from the pit of hell trying to discourage you from making any more moves. You must not listen to them.

Rejection can do a lot of damage to you, and understandably so. The human brain has been wired that way. And since from the primal days of human existence, man has lived in a web of interaction with other human beings. No man was created to be an island, self sufficient and in need of no one. On the contrary, man is gregarious by nature. That is why rejection hurts so deeply. That also stems from the fact that rejection denies you the privilege of enjoying friendship and relationship with others. In addition to the pain of rejection, we tend to exacerbate the discomfort by turning ourselves into objects of pity. This self-inflicted wound which is usually characterized by any of the feelings of disgust and dejection is capable of doing more harm than the rejection itself.

That you were rejected does not mean you have come to the end of your life. The first thing you should do is to remind yourself of your identity and self-worth. Is it possible that the person who rejected you is not aware of who you are and what you carry? Most likely. So, what should be your response? Bring back to mind who you are and what you represent. You are made in the image and likeness of God. God Himself said that before He made you. Because you are His child, you carry His likeness and character. If God is not inadequate and incapable of doing anything, then what makes you think that the perception of others about you that led to your rejection is true? What does the word of God tell you about yourself? Would you rather listen to the truths of God’s sure word or the false testimonies of blind men? In all thy knowing, you must know whose you are. When you know that, then go on to find out who you are. A knowledge of these two will allow you to know your worth and capacity.
