this is why i watch and read fansubs instead of oficcial productions.
1. they put more effort to fitting all the translations on screen and make sure they are accurate
2. none of the shitty services to watch it legally exists here and even if they did nobody would stop

Yes this issue has been prevalent for many years. In many Japanese media brought to the west. I remember during hs years I made it a hobby to watch things from Japan with English translations, or things in English dub with direct script subs and I'd always be confused. In the English sub/dub they really do add extra useless shit like the video commented (haha sure ok) then translated to ((you'll never understand the depths of my being)) extra useless stuff. Being a jp native I'd get so confused why they do things like this here.

Again, nobody learns instant regret unless they either come out and admit they screwed up, fix the mistake they made, or both. If they do none of these things, then they're just going to repeat the same mistakes again.

I get the concept of localization. In most instances, simply mirror- translating the original text would not work. Especially when it comes to jokes and references.
As someone with English as a second language, I can attest to that.
However, respect source material and the fans by making it good, not cringe..
