This is a great idea, charging should be univerisal, no one is hurting because of it and everyone benefits.

Title: Tesla agrees to let Ford and GM use their charging network.

There I fixed it. Haha

Standardization is key. This is a great first step! I wish the government would step in and make a standard, just like with building codes.

Your Texas trip showed that you didn't know what software to use to plan a trip. Still, NACS is a superior standard less likely to be damaged, more compact in the vehicle and in the charger, and just overall improved. This is good news for EVs in the US.

This title is hilarious. More like GM and Ford cave into Tesla charging network

Federal government needs to get charging standerized across the country.

Shouldn't that be in reverse? Tesla allow GM and Ford to use their charging stations?

I think the new Honda Prologue would apply as well, because underneath it’s a twin of the new Chevrolet Blazer EV.

So... CCS was the previous front-runner for charging EV's. It was used by "all auto companies in north america except Tesla".

CCS the specification isn't unreliable, *however* Electrify America (Owned by VW) stations *are*. EA stations are poorly designed machines running embedded windows. Generally speaking, Electrify America gave the CCS standard a bad name through unreliability.

NACS (Tesla's plug) is a lot smaller.. however it is solely controlled by Tesla (the company). There's a lot of uncertainty about using a single vehicle manufacturer's plug. The NACS connector isn't "open" like CCS, and companies need to negotiate with Tesla to produce vehicles that use it. (it's also impossible to source NACS connectors at the moment since Tesla is the only producer)

With all of that said... NACS won. WIth Ford and GM saying they're going full NACS, North America has decided on NACS. Europe will continue to use CCS for all vehicles (including Tesla) since it is their mandated standard.

What's with the headline. It was Tesla who allowed GM Ford use their chargers.

Tesla in a few weeks has basically become Shell, BP, Exxon Mobile combined . Now imagine that combination merging with Toyota . Thats basically what happened. How many times do ppl have to be told Tesla is not just a car company.

The downside is that the White House is still stuck in the past by requiring CCS plugs at every station that is federally funded even though most EVs won't have a CCS socket in two years. Sounds really stupid to me.

Toyota and honda needs to join the NACS.

How many watts does it take to charge ?

Good thing. In texas, elon musk was required by the state to improve infrastructure, and there is a charging station very near my house—nearly 2 dozen charging stations, and never more than 4 in use at once.

Now Elon Musk will be able to pull the plug on GM and Ford.

Tesla allows them is the real headline.

Took years to figure that out, nothing to be proud of.
