Fun fact for a dead keyfob or TV remote, that lil light on top is the IR blaster. It uses flashes of light not visible to the human eye to work. But your phone camera can see it.
Not sure if your keyfob is dead? Point it to your camera on your phone and you'll see the light on your phone screen if it's charged, or none if it's dead. Same with your TV remote or anything else with an IR blaster

I have this exact key. That fob is only used to turn on the car and lock/Unlock the doors. On top of the key there’s a switch where you can move it to the right and it will pop out a actual key to unlock the doors

If the key fob to a car dies put it right up to the handle of the door and try and few different spots, they usually have just enough charge to open it if it’s right next to it.

I can confirm the that fob can die. I have the exact same fob and mine is fully dead and I've tried to replace the battery and it didn't work. It still starts my car being dead because it acts just like a chip in your normal keys that don't have a battery.

When the battery becomes weak before dying the lock/unlock function will not always work. Time to change the battery, Duracell 4 pack Amazon under $20, just make sure you get the correct type.😊

I still keep in touch with a dear young locksmith that had to travel 30 min in the wee hrs of the night to open my house. His fiance came also. I paid, and they left but came back to give me my $ back within minutes saying they knew I couldn't really afford their price and God will take care of them, and me. I call them on holidays text them once in a while. I will never forget them❤️

im glad my fob still allows me to get into my car and start it even if the battery is dead.
