‘Complete nonsense’: Albanese hits back at Dutton’s criticism over border control

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has hit back at Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s criticism over border security.

Mr Albanese rejected claims that around 40 asylum seekers got into the country undetected due to “resourcing issues”.

“Complete nonsense once again here from Peter Dutton,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Monday.

“The people who were unauthorised arrivals into Western Australia just days ago now find themselves on Nauru, and they will not be settled here in Australia.

“We have clear positions in place; we’ll continue to do so.

“Peter Dutton will continue to be a cheer squad for things that actually undermine our borders.”

Yes, illegal boat people do end up on Nauru for a quick holiday before being granted permission to enter Australia; this is Labor policy. And he conveniently ignores the up to 2 million people who are now awaiting citizenship in the country, many of whom travelled by plane and demanded asylum upon arrival. One would wonder where the housing is coming from, the Centrelink payments, etc., oh, I forgot, just raise the taxes - simple!
