…Incognito mode is gonna keep your search private, right? Wrong!
Yes, it’s supposed to leave no traces of your activities on the browser, and it doesn’t hoard any cookies or site data.
But the websites can still see exactly who you are*, what you’re doing and even WHERE you are, based on your IP address. Your Internet Service Provider as well as any network admins can still see what websites you visit. And not to mention the browser companies.
Google actually got hit with a 5 BILLION lawsuit for keeping billions of private browsing records. Even Safari keeps your Private Browsing data in an easily viewable file on your device.
So at best, you can use Incognito for hiding a gift idea from your roommate. Otherwise, use a VPN for true privacy. Or download a more reputable browser like Brave. But what if you just want to quickly search up something embarrassing?…
