Nothing Phone 2a Plus - PERFORMANCE UPGRADE!

Nothing Phone 2a Plus is launching on July 31st and the specifications of the phone have leaked online, revealing upgrades in performance, charging, and cameras.

The Nothing Phone 2a was launched in March with a unique rear design, glyph lights, a horizontally placed dual camera setup, a flat display with symmetrical bezels, a Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, and more. The phone was an instant hit, with the company selling over 100,000 units of it on the first day. The brand is now all set to launch an upgraded version of it, named the Nothing Phone 2a Plus. The launch is taking place on July 31, and we now have the key specifications of the device, thanks to SmartPrix.

The SOC has been confirmed by Nothing already. It is the MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro. This chipset is built on the 4nm manufacturing process and has an octa-core CPU with clock speeds going up to 3.0GHz. For comparison, the Dimensity 7200 Pro in the Nothing Phone 2a has a CPU that goes up to 2.8GHz. This results in an almost 10% CPU performance improvement over the Dimensity 7200 Pro.

The GPU is the Mali-G610 MC4, and while it is the same as the one in Dimensity 7200 Pro, it is clocked at 1.3GHz in the Dimensity 7350, resulting in a 30% performance improvement.

The Nothing Phone 2a Plus has 8GB or 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage. The RAM is reportedly LPDDR5 and the storage is UFS 3.1, which, if true, is again an upgrade over the Nothing Phone 2a’s LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

The battery is 5,000mAh, and there is 50W fast wired charging, versus 45W in the Nothing Phone 2a.

Speaking of the cameras, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus has a dual camera setup on the rear – a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide camera. So, the rear camera setup seems to be the same as the 2a. The front camera is upgraded as it uses a 50MP sensor, versus a 32MP sensor on the Phone 2a.

The display is a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED with a 1300 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass 5 protection, the same as the Phone 2a.

Well, the Phone 2a Plus has some big performance improvements (especially if reports related to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage are true), faster charging, and an improved selfie camera over the Phone 2a. The Phone 2a was launched for a starting price of ₹23,999 / €329 / £319, so it would be interesting to see at what price the Phone 2a Plus is launching.
