I might give that a try next time I'm out. I string my longbow by bracing one end against my foot, stepping over it, and then pulling the back up against the bottom of my thigh. Your method seems like less steps, no pun intended!

I like what I call the wrap and bend technique to string my recurve bow. I anchor it with one foot and wrap my opposite leg over the middle of the bow, then use my hands to bend the bow and hook the string. I learned it from an old movie about Odysseus.

As I use short recurves I use the step through method. Serbian and Magyar shortbows so far are my favorites.

I like it more to string my bow with the step through method. With longbows you can put one end on top of your shoe so it doesn't get that dirty and won't dig that hard into the ground. And it feels easier could be better on stronger bows
