Can I name my main HTML file for example mainpage.html instead of index.html? Is it going to affect the website anyhow?
Also, how should I name other html files if I build a multi-page website for example social media platform, streaming service, or something similar?
On the other hand, where do the index.html and other naming come from?

I found this when I was trying to find whether I should use a folder with an index.html in it or a single html file when I want to have a standalone page inside of a certain directory, so it didn't help me, but I do think this would help someone else.
(I went with the index.html approach because I think it would be more intuitive for the users, since most people wouldn't understand why they have to type ".html" at the end.)
