Harbor Freight Utility Trailer Bearing Replacement. learn how to replace trailer bearings! Watch me as I replace my Harbor Freight trailer bearings. Finding wheel bearing for Harbor freight utility trailers has been a problem in the past. I found replacement bearings made by Xike bearings on Amazon. Removing the old bearings and installing the new wheel bearings is not a complicated process. With a few hand tools and the right parts, this process went very smooth for me and the Handy Packer bearing packer made the job even easier.

This trailer Is four years old and because I use it to carry my fishing boat In and out of water, I felt It was time to replace the bearings. At a cost of $35.99 for the bearing kit, why wouldn’t someone change bearings every few years?!?

Excellent video! Nice work on the delivery and audio was great. Most DIY videos do not seem to put effort into that aspect and it makes a big difference. I have the 1195 LB trailer and it's worth its weight in gold.

I just had my wheel smoke on my last use of this trailer. I thought I was dead in the water not sure what to do. After watching your video this empowered me to take a part my wheel and bearings and I just ordered the replacement through your link! Thank you so much!

Very good video. I have the same trailer, the 1, 720 lbs one. I forgot just how easy it is to put the bearings in. Soon to be another project for me! LOL! 😂😂 I'm saving this one.

Always replace the races with new bearings. Other than that it was a good video.

Great video. I agree that if the races are still in good shape, just reuse them. Assuming the races are not rusty/pitted/scored etc, they are a bit of a pain to swap. Renting the bearing/race punch tool makes the job easier, as well as throwing the races in the freezer overnight. The new Xike bearings in the kit are definitely well made. I swapped mine after 8 years of neglect, It was time to upgrade before the inevitable happened. Thanks for the instructions. Cheers

You should always replace the race when replacing bearings and also put grease on the spindal before putting the hub back on.but other then that great video. Thanks

Thanks for another great video Fred! It is always a good idea to maintain your hubs. Especially went you submerge them in water. Nice work!

As a hanger door mechanic you should always change your race with new bearings. And always replace with new seals.

Thanks for the video. I have ordered one of these trailers and am going to repack the bearings so this video helps. Thank you for setting up a link to the right size replacement bearings. I will buy those when the time comes

Hey man thanks for the video. I’m just finishing this trailer and noticed I can’t push the hub assembly over the inner metal lip on the spindle so the hub touches that little black square. Is it supposed to be touching?

That is what you are suppose to do. Repack the bearings every year. However, most people don't seem to do this. I bought a 2 yr old trailer and the previous owner said he never did it. The wheels are very hard to turn and I've decided to replace the bearings and seals because they are probably damaged at this point.

The water gets in, possibly from the inner seal and rusts the bearings. Harbor Freight could get the edge on this
design improvement with a seal like a pump seal with a spring and two ceramic facings sealing the water getting in.
Thousands of us have this rust problem until the trailer jumps when the wheels do not spin. Thanks for the D.I.Y. advice my friend.

Great vid! Were the 4-year old bearings the ones that came with the trailer? I just bought the smaller one, and not sure if I need to do anything with the bearings right away.

Thank you for this video. Is this the 1000 pound trailer or the 1750?

I torque my castle nut to 22 ft lbs and then I turn hub back and forth a few times to seat my bearings and then I loosen castle nut up all the way and then tighten by hand until snug and then I put the cotter pin in the closest hole. I haven't had any trouble doing it this way and it takes any guess work out f the job.

I dont get it. Did the bearing kit come with races? If not, why ? Replacing bearings always includes races.

thank you for showing the seal installation! and the rest too, But, the Affiliate link is to 30205 but 30205 bearings do NOT replace L44643 bearing and L44610 race on my red folding Harbor freight trailer. fyi...

I now have 4 30205 bearings. what kind of trailer do they fit?? im a pro at trailer refurb after all these YT videos, lol.

The way I move stuff around in my Amazon cart and delete stuff etc. I had to come back to this page and click on the links again so you get credit for the purchases. I'm wondering if the buddy bearings are really worth it or if you've ever tried them.

I am restoring an old one of these. I can't even get the hub off. Any suggestions?
